Hello friends! :classic: I would like to ask you for information about Technic Differential with One Gear 28 Tooth Bevel. Does someone know why in the middle it has a crack/cleft? The middle part of it holds two of the cog-wheels, but i don't see any use of the cleft...

Actually, the middle of it hold 3 bevel gears. The pin in the middle support one of the gears (often called the spider gear). The other part is basically a stop. It keeps the spider gear from falling out and it keeps you from pushing in the axles on the other two gears too far.

i wonder if by having that slot there that the amount of material comprising the cleft would be the same as 1 mini bevel gear therefore ensuring more even mass around the axis of rotation

Possibly, but I don't think it ever rotates fast enough for balance to be a real concern. More likely the opening is simply to save weight (and ABS) compared to having it solid. The taper is a draft angle to allow removal of the part from the mold.
