Cpt. Dan Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) I got fairly bored of the sails on the BB and I decided to do my own without the stripes and new Jolly Roger logo from TLG. I went with black because I felt like my crew and myself were tougher and more intimidating. This is my version with a few tweaks to the ship. Personally I think it came out pretty well and I can't wait to have the time for some pillage and raid the Soldeier's Fort and steal their gold and rum. New Sails for BB I couldn't upload the pics to the site so I just made a flikr for this one. It is worth a look (I hope) and I was looking for some feeback from the Pirate experts here! Hope you enjoy. Dan Edited May 16, 2010 by Cpt. Dan Quote
squiz Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) Looks great, more intimidating than the red/white sails. I like the rips and tears in the sails too, looks like its seen some action ! Very similar to the red beard runner I also like the crows nest and rowing boat hanging off the back. Edited May 16, 2010 by squiz Quote
Erdbeereis Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Hi Dan! To deeplink pics from Flickr, go to "all sizes" on Flickr, copy the image address, and then on the forum, click on the little picture of a sunset below the "fonts" menu and go from there. Quote
Cpt. Dan Posted May 17, 2010 Author Posted May 17, 2010 Figured it out! Now it's time for bed. Work is lurking early in the morning... Bring it on Imperials Quote
Randal Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I like how your rigging is chains instead of ropes. Coincidentally, I used a pirate in today's "Brick", though he doesn't look nearly as healthy or fortunate as yours shown here.) I like the black sails. I wish LDD had sails... and flexible chains... Nets too, for that matter. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 That looks nice! Chains ain't realistic to use in rigging, but it looks rather good. What about a large black flag at the stern? I think it would add a lot there since it's a plain area there. I'm also really impressed by your custom made blunderbuss! I also move this to the MOC forum. Quote
michaelozzie Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 The black sails do look quite good on the BB. That custom blunderbuss is very good too Quote
BrickPerfection Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 (edited) The idea to change the sails on the BB for custom ones is generally a good one since the original sail pattern looks very childish! However I'm not quite convinced by how you executed it! Black sails aren't bad, however I dislike the holes in them! Holes may be ok for some PotC flair, but they're just unrealistic and - more importantly - don't fit with the more intact appeareance of the BB IMO. I also don't understand why you haven't changed the sail's shape or at least the 3mm tube yards which are just horrible on the BB! Why others stated that the use of chain would look good, I personally dislike them, they lack any nautical flair and my guess is that TLG has only included them because they were too lazy to reintroduce the ropes from 1997... I might have criticised a little too much but my demand in MOCs is rather high, so please don't feel offended in any way. Regards -Perfectionist Edited May 23, 2010 by Perfectionist Quote

Regards -Perfectionist Def. understood and I want to change the 3mm tubes and chain but I am at school and my pieces are at home. I plan on further fixing it when I am done. As for the holes, I like them, I wasn't looking for anything realistic when I made it. Thanks for the insight though, I will keep it in mind if I ever decide to change it and go with something more realistic. As for the blunderbuss its fairly simply. Take one flintlock rifle and cut off the barrel by the trigger. Then trim down the nozzle to likings and super glue. Finally let it dry overnight and take a nail file and make the barrel smooth at the area it was connected. Then trim the stock. It was pretty easy overall, I was awake one night in my dorm room with nothing to do and decided to try it when Deadliest Warrior was on... If you have a few rifles you want to customize, I certainly think it is worth it. Quote
