I liked the building structure but not the wall section of the 7571 Fight for the Dagger. I was hoping the box will show an alternate model but since there was none I came up with this. This is my attempt to keep the main building and turn it into more of a house for the merchant. All the parts used are from the set (including the extras). I also removed the trap door and falling balcony gimmick.

Nice mod!

The long wall section can be annoying if you're trying to move it around so it's great to see a more compact, less airy version of the set.

The arches do stack pretty well for plant boughs - let's hope we get these in red or choco-brown soon :sweet:

Cool but this shows how much of a rip of this set is. :yoda:

The set isn't really the best for $30, true. But it does include a pretty convincing market scene, as well as offering a bunch of nice pearly gold pieces. Plus, my favorite, the CAMEL!

Agreed on that! Especially the camel.

Great MOC! This looks like it should be on the back of the box as an alt. build! Makes me want to break down my "Fight for the Dagger" and see what I can come up with!

Thanks all for the compliments. Definitely keeps me motivated to do other mods.

Interestingly, my favorite piece from the set is the cloth canopy. For me it evokes the Arabian Nights bazaar feel more than the dome pieces or the arches. Does this piece exists in other sets and in different colors?

Cool MOD. I like that you made it smaller, and I like the tree

No. I wish it did, because it's so cool.

A note on the tree, since I see a few comments on it. I was trying to evoke a sense that the tree has grown out from and back into the cracks of the masonry supporting the stairs. Mainly to disguise the jumble of bricks holding up the stairs

I also liked the fact that the entire section gives the sense that the building has been there a while. That this merchant is experienced (OR that he built his house in a declining part of town )

I hope the PoP sets will go into deep discounts next year so I can buy multiple sets to make a arabian bazaar.
