charlieboy Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 After seeing so many members towns on here i thought i'd have a go at building a little something. We are lucky enough to have a Lego room so after purchasing some decorating tables, various bits of wood and spending a small fortune in the Lego shop, heres what my son and i came up with. Its all simple buildings really,no big modular stuff as my son is 6 and loves playing with it as much as i enjoy building it! Most of the town is made up of off the shelf sets, some have been modified to better fit the town like the hospital, ive built it on the road baseplates instead of the raised baseplate it came with as i wanted all dark grey bases. As said i had a bit of a spending spree in the Brighton lego shop but we already had quite a collection of sets. The ones we have built/are waiting to be built are- 7208 Fire Station 7239 Fire Truck 7241 Fire Car 7942 Fire Pick-up Truck 30001 Fire cheif truck 7043 Fire Fighter 7046 Fire Command Craft 7906 Fireboat 7744 Police Station 7743 Police Truck 7741 Police Helicopter 7245 Prisoner Transport 7236 Police Car 7235 Police MC 7031 Police Helicopter 5625 Police 4x4 7723 Police Pontoon Plane 7890 Ambulance 7892 Hospital 3179 Repair Truck 3180 Tank Truck 7638 Tow Truck 7641 City Corner 7642 Garage 8402 Sports Car 7630 Front-end Loader 7631 Dump truck 7632 Crawler crane 4996 Holiday House 5891 Apple Tree House 5620 Street Cleaner 30003 Road roller 7242 Street Sweeper 5610 Cement mixer 7686 Helicopter transport 7991 Recycling Truck 7994 Cargo Sea Port 7998 Twin dumper truck 8398 BBQ stand There are many more we'll be using too,its very much a work in progress! Anyhoo, heres the pics- Work begins- The town layout- I added a little garage type thing to the creator house tp park the little smart car in then added a garden with a pool too! We scratch built the ice cream shop, included the 8398 BBQ stand here too. I added a mahooosive garage section to my police station so the 7743 truck could be parked off road. As said, the modified hospital- The pizza shop from city corner with outside eating area- I bought 7642 but didnt like the idea of a garage without a roof so i added one- Heres my bike shop delivery truck Thats as far as we've got so far,as mentioned above we still have lots of sets to build as well as quite a few other moc buildings too.Things are on hold at the moment whilst i build up my classic space collection but i'll be back with the town shortly. Hope you like it,Shane Quote
prateek Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 This is great! It's so charming, and the modifications are awesome! Just a question, why is the yellow house's balcony extend over the fence onto the blue and white house's property? Quote
RoryoCox Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Looks good. I love the overall layout of the buildings. Well Done Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Very nice , have trying getting and fitting in a service station or putting fuel pumps in the garage setup 'charlieboy'. Now, let's see - more straight road plates, raise the height of the garage by a lot and I do really like the storage shed for the police truck. It least you made the hospital look a little better, but I still believe it's the worst Lego City set ever released ! Excellent town planning - showing the town centre then the housing area straight after ! Oh yeah, more street lights too. Nice looking motor bike shop next to the garage. I'm a conformist! 'charlieboy' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
legitimatealex Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Wow you really did drop a small fortune at the LEGO shop. Nice little town. I always wondered how it would roughly look like if someone put together all or most of the city sets. I love the modifications you did to the houses. I did that myself to a few of them. Question: did you add anything to the inside of the beach house like furniture or are they empty on the inside? Quote
charlieboy Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Just a question, why is the yellow house's balcony extend over the fence onto the blue and white house's property? Well they are very good neighbours and the couple that live in the blue house were more than happy to let nextdoor build their extension if in return they were allowed to use the pool Oh yeah, more street lights too. Will be adding lots to my next bricklink order! did you add anything to the inside of the beach house like furniture or are they empty on the inside? The houses are mostly empty at the mo,i'll add bits and bobs eventually but we wanted to get the layout sorted first. Thanks for the replies guys, means alot when someone likes what you've built Quote
greg3 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Nice little town!! I love looking at other people's layouts (and wishing I had room for one of my own!) I especially like the way you've used official sets with slight modifications and the way they all seem to fit together well!! Great job! Quote
Wingcastle Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I like most of the way you have build the townlayout with original sets and MODs. However, I would - as minifig - like to have the ability to take the car and drive outside the town - on a roadtrip ... Quote
mikey Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 that looks great, by the look of your to do list you might need another table soon. i bet you have loads of fun play time. obviously i mean im sure your kid has loads of fun play time! Quote
Big Cam Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Thanks for the pictures, it really shows what you can do win a bunch of officials sets. Quote
Spyder Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Small fortune darn right! That's quite a bit of sets you have there. I hope your son likes it, I know I would. Quote
prateek Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Well they are very good neighbours and the couple that live in the blue house were more than happy to let nextdoor build their extension if in return they were allowed to use the pool Creative explanation, but I'm pretty sure that that's illegal in most jurisdictions Quote
charlieboy Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 (edited) I like most of the way you have build the townlayout with original sets and MODs. However, I would - as minifig - like to have the ability to take the car and drive outside the town - on a roadtrip ... I find the town looks incomplete when the roads dont go anywhere, they look unfinished almost when they lead to nothing at all i bet you have loads of fun play time. obviously i mean im sure your kid has loads of fun play time! cough cough, yes HE does have fun ahem, cough cough Thanks again for the comments guys Edited May 16, 2010 by charlieboy Quote
