ImLost Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 (edited) So I built one of these this week... (www.westlickingfire.org) It's a mid-mount tower ladder and has several advantages over rear-mount ladders. First, because the ladder does not have to go over the cab's roof, the overall height of the truck is shorter. Also, since the bucket does not hang over the windshield, visibility for firefighters is improved. But most importantly, a mid-mount truck is more manuvuerable than a rear-mount, because the center of gravity is lower. Inspired by Steven Asbury. Deck gun based on design by Matt Jacobsen. The biggest challenge is getting the proportions right. In real-life, these things are super long with prominent rear overhangs. To tell you the truth, they are kind of ugly. It was difficult to make my model look as realistic as possible, but also make it look better than the ones in real-life. Edited May 16, 2010 by ImLost Quote

Commodore Hornbricker Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Congratulations on creating one of the most detailed and realistic fire trucks I have ever seen produced in Lego. It is really amazing. Quote
Milan Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 It is really beautiful fire truck. Details and lack of visible studs are great points of this MOC. And I don't think that real truck is ugly...it is pretty interesting seeing such a huge rear overhangs. Quote
slacker int Posted May 13, 2010 Posted May 13, 2010 Another great truck! I love all the details, very true to life. Did you have to disassemble the first truck to make this beauty? because they would look great together! Quote
ImLost Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 Thanks for the comments, everyone! Another great truck!I love all the details, very true to life. Did you have to disassemble the first truck to make this beauty? because they would look great together! I had to disassemble my first AND second truck to make this, mainly because it requires so many red tiles (close to 100). But I plan to rebuild my disassembled trucks in the near future. Quote
