Corvus Posted October 1, 2010 Author Posted October 1, 2010 ...far more interesting than the inevitable Anakin-esque teen boy for her to pine over.... *Has sudden mental image of Edward.* Thanks. I'll be afraid of that for the rest of the season. Quote
sok117 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Just saw the new episode, and may I be the first to say that it was awesome! there were parts that were slow, but I thought they did a really good job making a well-balanced episode. Greedo was pretty cool, and I guess if it is the elder he hasn't had kids yet, so now he's just greedo. Chairman Papanoida was awesome, there were times when I had to remind myself he wasn't a jedi, just a really bad-asss political figure, who also has a loving family. I really liked this episode, but when I first saw the inspector from the god awful episode that was senate murders, I thought this episode was gonna suck, but then the son said something like "that inspector doesn't know how to do his job" and I was like "yes!!!". I also really like the nemodian guards, and the Pantoran ship, I'm gonna try mocing that in lego. Quote
The Legonater Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Jar-Jar Binks would be an optimum mate for someone of her caliber. Great, now I'm never going to stop thinking of what idiot would fall in love with Binks... Quote

I'll take this opportunity to re-post my nightmare-inducing vision of what an offspring of those two might look like in minifig form. I would actually love to see an episode with these two, just to see how they would portray the chemistry between them. Edited October 2, 2010 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote

Corvus Posted October 2, 2010 Author Posted October 2, 2010 Just watched the episode. My thoughts: -If this is ANH Greedo, why is he speaking Basic? This has been bugging me with a lot of alien races. Very few speak their own language. ...and a few minutes later we hear Jabba speaking Huttese and a few Twi'leks speaking... something. -The first knife I've seen in TCW. Wielded by a politician. Hmm. -The scene bartering with Jabba seemed weak. I wouldn't be surprised if the request for a bounty hunter to take the hostages went through Jabba himself. Jabba seems really softhearted for a guy who feeds dancers to a Rancor for amusement. -Mos Eisley looks great. -"I want my litigator..." Quote
Oky Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) The episode guide and commentary for this episode make it pretty clear that this is ANH Greedo: In the 1990s, the book Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina told a different tale of Greedo's past that presented him as a misguided youth orphaned by Rodian clan wars and corrupted by bounty hunters. George Lucas' take on the character established Greedo on Tatooine as of Episode I (he's around Anakin's age, and seen scuffling with Skywalker in a deleted scene included in the Episode I DVD) and the Rodian has pretty much always been a luckless thug. So, they basically retconned a retcon. Sigh. It doesn't make sense at all. But I'm too tired right now to rant about it. Aside from all the fan service with Greedo, the Cantina, and Jabba's Palace, This episode was alright. Nothing specially good or bad. I did like how competent Ahsoka and George Chairman Papanoida were however. I didn't like that goat-headed bounty hunter, though. I also noticed that the shot of Embo is the one from the season trailer, so I hope this is not the only thing we see of him and Sugi this season. The next episode just looks alright as well. Padme has the weirdest hair do yet, and it's about the pacifist Mandos again. But at least this time these supposed-pacifists finally do some fighting. We'll see. Ahsoka and Chuchi do emphasize the fact that they're "good friends" a lot, don't they? OK, enough with the lesbian jokes. Edited October 2, 2010 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote

I'm confused now. You know what I hope? I hope this Greedo is a long lost great uncle that never appears in the movies. -Really? Are you sure it's not a vibroblade? I haven't seen the episode yet, though. -Um, because after you save this guy's son and he makes a treaty with the Republic, you've got to make him seem like a good guy. Quote

DarthSion Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I thought it wasn't Greedo, i thought it was his father just same name, like snr and jnr. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I did like how competent Ahsoka and George Chairman Papanoida were however. Talk about biased characterization. But it was good to see an old non-jedi with fighting abilities like that. Quote
FettJango Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Did anyone see the preview for the next CW episode? We're going back to Mandalore !! In the trailer, I didn't see Death Watch, though . Hopefully the episode is worth watching. Quote
prateek Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) Just saw the Greedo episode. I thought Bounty Hunters had no time for relationships It was sad to see that Jedi die, along with his whole Clone Squad. All in all, good episode. Edited October 3, 2010 by prateek Quote
commdr_neyo Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 I liked the latest CW episode, even though they messed up Greedo (the Elder? ) It's a shame they let Master Di and Captain Keeli die in just one episode, I hope Captain Keeli is going to be healed in some way. Does anyone have the trailer for the next episode? I didn't watch the episode live on TV. Quote
Forresto Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 The audio on the airing of "Supply Lines" for me was really messed up for some reason. It was in stereo I believe, did this happen to anyone else? Quote

Artanis I Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 So much for me saying they haven't been to Tatooine... I found it curious that Baron Lucas' son's accent changed a bit throughout the episode. The rest of the Pantorans had kiwi accents - pretty cute. (Sweet as, bro!) I was disappointed to hear Greedo speaking ... um whatever language English is, but then again Onaconda Farr does too. Maybe Jabba doesn't want trouble while there's a war going on, and he turns less agreeable later when he thinks the jedi are extinct. Just throwing up possibilities. Quote
Forresto Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Okay I have a Star Wars question regarding ships. Aurebesh is the accepted written language right? So why are Y-wings and X-X wings called that if their written language is completely different? Quote

Probably the wrong thread, but I'd say those are the names us Earthlings call them - in a galaxy far far away they may have had other names... I don't recall in any movies the names of any of the ships being mentioned. That doesn't mean they weren't. I'm sure I'll notice next time I watch them! Quote

I'm pretty sure someone called it a Y-Wing. Quote
Oky Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Have you ever actually seen one of those names written down somewhere in English? I doubt it. If they were written down, they would likely be in Aurebesh. As for them saying "Y-Wing" out loud, that's because the Basic, the commonly spoken language in the SWU, is being translated into English (or whatever language you speak) in the movies and series so that we can understand it. I understand what you're saying, but our names of the ships are based on resemblance with OUR Roman alphabet - the ship is in the shape of a Y or X. If our translation is X-Wing, what was the original Aurebesh? Is there an Aurebesh character that resembles our X or Y? Or if the literal translation for X-Wing is something like Cross-Wing, then is there an Aurebesh word for a Y shaped object? I think it's a good question if you think about it. Quote

Oh, now I understand the question. I'll just pin it down to "they didn't think about it when they were naming them." Or they hadn't thought of the Aurubesh letter system until after they named the ships. Yeah, I think the whole Aurebesh thing got started with the PT, and back when they were doing the OT, they thought it would be cool to name ships after letters in our alphabet. Now, it doesn't make much sense, I guess, but then again, a whole lot of things don't (CoughGreedoCough). I was disappointed to hear Greedo speaking ... um whatever language English is, but then again Onaconda Farr does too. Yeah, but he's a Senator, and not a character we have only seen speaking his native language up until now. Though I can understand why they did this. Subtitles may work in movies, but not on kids-oriented TV shows. Look at my above post. There is no post above yours. The trailer/preview should be up on youtube soon.
