Kerntechniker Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Hello, after the nice welcome to the HMS Reliant, i decide to present a pimped brig, the SMS Berlin. Yes I know a brig is only two masted but anyway it's a total free creation Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Nice work! I particuarly like the name on the front of the ship, very well done. But what does SMS stand for? Do you have any more images hosted on a site like Brickshelf or Flickr? I'd love to see more images of this wonderful creation! Quote
RoryoCox Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Your new ship looks really good. I like the design. And I'm jealous of you figures Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Nice ship. With the title I was expecting a little more crome and gold and maybe some custom rims and paint. Keep up the good work. Quote
Captain Becker Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 Nice shi i would like to see how the back gallery will looks, could you post more pics please? Captain Becker Quote
General Redwater Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 (edited) Very nice work! Do have more pictures ? - General Redwater Edited May 1, 2010 by General Redwater Quote
Kerntechniker Posted May 1, 2010 Author Posted May 1, 2010 SMS stands for "Seine Majestät Schiff" is the german counterpart of HMS. I think it was first used just after the foundation of the german empire 1871, but i'm not 100% sure. So it's historically not correct Thank's for all the nice note's. More picture are here. Quote
the_green_avenger Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I never really thought the prussians had a very large navy... good to see a bit of diversity put into this, that's what really caught my attention Hope to see you around here more often! Quote
BrickPerfection Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 SMS stands for "Seine Majestät Schiff" is the german counterpart of HMS. I think it was first used just after the foundation of the german empire 1871, but i'm not 100% sure. So it's historically not correct Hehe, well I doubt that sailing warships were still popular in the 1870s Your mainmast is very, very close to the foremast, really it should be much further apart from it. I also found the gun placement a bit weird, the guns should be 4-6 studs apart though 4 studs IMO works best. It should be quite possible to fit 8 instead of just 6 guns into that hull... Also there is no figurehead which i think you really need to change. If you have time, custom sails and rigging could improve your ship a lot. It really takes an insane amount of time though... The colourscheme looks a bit weird with the SES hull pieces since the red line is not continued. Other than that I'm glad there's one more bluecoat ship on these forums I've seen the Admirality on 1000steine.de Why not post it on EB? It's lovely! -Perfectionist Quote
Kerntechniker Posted May 9, 2010 Author Posted May 9, 2010 Hello Perfectionist, well the ship is from a historic point of view nonsense, but well it's my first MOC after a long period of non building. But I'm still thinking about a reconstrcution of the Berlin, but this will take time. Before the reconstruction, I've to build my MOC for the bayonets dawn contest and a steerage for the flagship :pir-skull: Quote
Brig. Brick Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 SMS is the correct indication, being used in the German Navy from 1871 to 1919, in 1870's, the ships began to be shielded, and start the use of steam, and the use of sails practically finished by the end of that century, but even in the middle of the WWI, many sailing ships were sunken by the firsts U-boats submarines but now, whit your MOC, very nice indeed!!, and the troops... like the amount of troops!!!
