Aanchir Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 (edited) Blame boredom. Blame the recently-released LEGO Universe mode for LDD. Blame a lack of patience with actual digital MOCing. Blame actually liking Galidor in concept, even I didn't like the sets that much. Whatever the cause, I cooked up this absolutely insane idea. Could I design custom minifigs based on the main characters from the short-lived Galidor LEGO theme and television show? What follows is the result of this ridiculous (but surprisingly successful) endeavor. From left to right, we have: Jens (Figure Referenced) Euripides (Figure Referenced) Allegra (Figure Referenced) Nick (Figure Referenced) Gorm (Figure Referenced) Nepol (Figure Referenced) Overall, Jens is the only one I'm not happy with, mainly because of the inappropriate face print and the disappointing end result of attempts to give him four arms. The others were amazingly successful. I attempted to adhere strictly to the colors which were used in the original sets (including the original grey and dark grey, and other outdated colors). The one place I fudged things a bit was for Euripides's staff, which I kept in sand yellow (dark tan) due to the non-existence of sand yellow metallic (pearl dark gold). Anyway, what do you guys think? I know this is not that exciting since I didn't make these figs in real life (and couldn't unless I was willing to paint parts or print custom decals). But I still thought the effort was worth presenting on Eurobricks. Edited April 26, 2010 by Aanchir Quote
The Nightwing Reborn Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 These are some spot-on figures! I too liked the concept of Galidor and can only hope that as hollywood runs out of fresh ideas, they revisit this series and maybe flip it into a PG13 movie. I must say, after seeing what is in LU mode, I'm impressed with your piece usage, especially Gorm, Nepol, and Euripedes. To you, sir, I say bravo on these figures! Quote
Omicron Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Can you buy the figs you make in LDD mode? Cuz thats impressive whether its Galidor or not. -Omi Quote
CMP Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I used to be obssesed with the online game (Galidor Quest), but neer watched the show. These figs are still pretty good though. Quote
Aanchir Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 Can you buy the figs you make in LDD mode? Cuz thats impressive whether its Galidor or not.-Omi No, only DesignByMe mode lets you purchase the stuff you make. Other modes like Mindstorms, Creator, and LEGO Universe use parts that aren't available for purchase (LU mode is special, as it lets you use the greatest variety of parts in essentially any color that's programmed in). For more info on LU mode, check here and here. Not the best for minifig customization-- you can't plug in your own custom decals, for instance-- but for something you get for free it's something every LEGO fan should at least play around with a bit. LuxorV Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Nice figures, Aanchir Can I ask you to reduce the image size to 800 pixels max, please? Thank you LuxorV Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Great LDD job there 'Aanchir' - nice minifigs ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Whittleberry Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Those are spot on, well done! I wonder if this will lead to a new Galidor-themed MOCcing fad.... Quote
Aanchir Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 Nice figures, Aanchir Can I ask you to reduce the image size to 800 pixels max, please? Thank you LuxorV Sorry about that. Yeah, I'll fix it. As for proper Galidor MOCs, I'm not sure what I could do as far as MOCing is concerned. Obviously one priority would be the Egg (TDN Module), the ship the heroes use to travel between realms. But I'm not quite confident enough to tackle that quite yet (when I am, I'm sure LEGO Universe mode of LDD will be essential to the process). Quote
