Yesterday I started to build a fire station for my town. The building will have three floors. It will be a modular type (my first modular building). On the roof of it I will build a heliport.

Two photos of the prototype:

I hope you like it. Suggestions and criticism are not redundant!

Looking good 'vladoniki' - fbut might I suggest the stair case be four wide with handrails so minifigs can easily transverse the floors.

Great design so far and I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

'lightningtiger', thanks! I also think about 4 stud wide stairs and I will do them. I also plan to use red color for stairs, because they are attached to the walls and it does not look like good. :)

great first effort Vladoniki, I have not seen those top floor windows before they look great. If you intend to have another modular building right next to it, it may need to only two floors high.

Looks good so far... the only thing I'd change is the red floor for the upper storey (a different colour would break up the red) Thanks for sharing.. looking forward to seeing more.

I did some changes.

I gave up 4 stud stairs - they would take up too much space.

Vlado, two things:

Don't post images that are over 800x600 or are LEGO confidential. Images rarely need to be over 640x480, and any that are over 1MB (including GIFs) are not allowed unless there is admin approval.

As noted down in the Member Guidelines of the forum. I hope you wouldn't mind downsizing those pics (all 14 of them).

And the second thing - both your buildings follow a pattern and a design that is extremely familiar to some of us, and was seen before, as built by Georgi, a member of our LUG. Now I'm not claiming you've copied the buildings, and the designs themselves are quite generic, but it would perhaps have been nice of you to share that you've used our mate Georgi as an inspiration / reference.

Is it better to post a link to the gallery? If it is I will do that. These photos are 1024x768, like in more other themes here! The forum system automatically reduces the size of the photos.

I didn't detect similarity to Georgi's buildings. The yellow building is very similar (with some changes) to the building in last year's Lego catalog (I have one of it from the official importer of Lego for Bulgaria). In the begging of that project - to build it, I planned to do it the same like in the catalog. First I changed the windows, than I build it taller than you can see it in Lego catalog.

The red building is a fire station - all we have the idea of Lego fire stations (more than 20 years) - it is red, like all other fire stations build from Lego past years (combination red and white) - Town/Fire. As you see, my fire station has a lot of original lines of Lego design, like Georgi's.

Well I can see differences in this particular fire station.........EXCELLENT toliet area, office and rec(pool) area.

Interesting stair case - very clever design.

Great work 'vladoniki' - oh by the way I always reduce my photos before uploading them to Brickshelf first then copy/paste to EB.

I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

'lightningtiger', thanks!

Sorry about the photos, next time I will resize them to 640x480, before posting. :classic:

The images now are corrected to resolution 640x480... Is it better to post a link to the gallery? If it is I will do that.

Thanks for that. And yes, if you look around, most MOCcers would post a link to a BL or flickr gallery with their MOCs. Of course, it's a matter of personal choice so you can feel free to add as many pics as you want straight in the topic, as long as they're not oversize. Otherwise loading up 10+ pics at a resolution of 1024x768 become a bit too heavy on the eyes and modems for some users.

I didn't detect similarity to Georgi's buildings.

Well, I was merely suggesting it is always nice to give credit whenever credit is due. We have however already discussed that topic at length here on EB, so I guess at the end of the day it's all down to the MOCcer himself to decide what and how he shares about the creation.

Thanks for doing that! :sweet: That really helps the site function better.

Yes, it can be good for a member to give credit if he borrowed something from another builder. Vladoniki's creations are vaguely similar to the buildings you linked to, but I don't see anything that shows he directly copied them. I get frustrated when I see someone trying to take credit for something that isn't theirs, but trying to force others to give credit for something they might have never even seen before is not the way to combat this.
