alex54 Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 I bought some sets with the idea to moc them. I built the original set one time to how it looks and after, it's hard for me to break it and to shake the pieces with my other LEGO. I know it's strange and stupid, but it's like that! So, for the new police station ( I have an old one), I have taken two months to decide to moc it! But with the set 7891, I only took two weeks. I have bought it to make a bin truck (I don't know if it's the correct word). I just want to use less other parts than possible. Have a look and tell me what do you thing about it! for more pictures Quote
snefroe Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 it's very nice. add a few stickers and you'd have a very decent city set... Quote
xenologer Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 I know exactly what you mean. Lately all of my MOCs have been 'alternate models' too. Where I build something using only pieces from just one set, and try to use up all of them if I can. I even keep the original boxes to store the unused pieces in. I guess part of the appeal is that if I make something really good it's a simple matter of buying another of that set to make duplicates... plus its easy for anyone else to get one too if I post instructions online... and color coordination becomes an easier issue I do make exceptions though... designer sets are nothing but parts collections, and Racers tend to be pretty useless by themselves so they go into the parts bin too Your Bin Truck: in the US we call them Garbage Trucks Its pretty good, the only thing I think you might change, is to have more open sides on the cabin, since they make frequent stops and the worker is always going in and out to load the back. xwingyoda Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 Hey alex54 , thats a really nice creation  I like your bin system at the rear, its really nice !!!! There is only one small detail I would change though: I would put the rear switch to activate the bin on the side and not on the rear (if not there will be some minor problems putting the bin up). Really nice moc !!!! Show us more moc/mods please !!!!! I might try one in the Paris colours Yoda Quote
alex54 Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 I know exactly what you mean. I'm happy to see I'm not alone! :-P I can't put doors on the cabine because of the pieces arond the weels (dark grey ones). There is only one small detail I would change though: I would put the rear switch to activate the bin on the side and not on the rear (if not there will be some minor problems putting the bin up). I know! It's for this reason that I put one on the side of the truck too. I would like to put stikers on it, but I need some help. Does anybody can tell me how to have stick like the original LEGO are. Because I have some classic paper stiker without the LEGO touch. I mean it ihas not the same render, It is not shining. So, if you have some councils about it, tell me them, thanks! :-D And thanks for your message! You can go on my brickgalery to see the reste of my town! X-D Quote
