Daniel Williams Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Dear Dad You asked me how France was last letter? Well here's how I feel it was terrible and worst of all when I left the local bank here in Paris, I saw a German tank roll on by. And I told myself this couldn't be good. I turned my head and saw French police and some German soldiers laughing and talking as if good friends. I thought my week couldn't get any worse. I took a deep breath and started to walk away. I went to the train station, got a ticket to the next plane and headed to Britain where I'm going to take the next flight to New York and stay with Aunt May for a while til this whole thing blows over. Oh and that wasn't the only thing that made this my worst vacation ever, when I first traveled to Britain, I had lost my suitcase, that's why I asked you to forward funds. I was lucky that I had a backup suit case. As I arrived to Spain, no one I asked for directions spoke English. I went from there through France to Germany. The night I spent was horrible. I looked outside my window and they were burning something out in the street. It looked like they were throwing books into the flames. That's when I went back to Paris and sadly the Germans followed me there. I can't believe anyone voted for that madman in Germany. Before I went to Paris, I saw a few people being beaten up, my guess is cause they walked out of a store with the word Jude painted on the front window. All in all, my vacation to Europe was terrible, next time I'm going to learn the language. Oh and thanks for the funds, they helped alot... Joey Lock Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Thnks for reading, any comments or suggestions to make this better are welcomed. Very nice! Although not historically accurate, Its still a brilliant read! See, Many of the Nazi Book Burnings took place before the war, During 1933-1934, Just around the time Hitler had enough power not to be arrested for these public attacks. So, mabye, Put the Germany visit first in the story, then the Invasion of France. Also, To add to the Germany story, If your putting it first in the story, I'd say how you really would have seen Germany around that time. Many reporters and just holiday people believed Hitler had made Germany great, it was sunny, everyone they saw, or where allowed to see, where happy with life and praised him for what he had done. You could make your character think "Hmm, mabye he has helped Germany, even after the things the US Papers have said about him...Mabye he is good" then the Book burning part, and say you went out in the morning to get the local paper and you saw a smoking synagoge and then you see the Nazi paper, and it mentions nothing on it because of censorship. Just a few Ideas I learnt from watching a Documentary on what Nazi life was like. Because 1933 and 1940 are such long distances of time, I'd say, change the book burning or make your character arrive in late 1933 and mabye leave Germany in 1935, at the height of Nazi Germany's peace and then return at 1940 to France and see the rounding up of prisoners and the cruelty. Just my ideas. I know if your characther is staying in Germany for about 2 years seems quite long, but mabye he could have been at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - Berlin University or something. Daniel Williams Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 Thanks for the info, I kind of screwed up my facts and that's sad considering the amount of history channel I watch. I will update this story as soon as I'm able to find pics of what France looked like in 1930s and 40s as well as what Germany looked as well. And thnks again for the feedback. Quote

I watched "Hitler's Bodyguard" episode today and It showed Hitlers secret tour around Paris during the early hours of the morning to stop threats from newly conquered citizens. It had some extremely good images of France being paraded and open areas of the city with just Hitlers car, so you could see the vast open spaces, before Skyscrapers were built. Have a look at some of those documtaries, I watch them nearly everyday. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 (edited) Oh, dear you are as bad as I am with the History Channel, yeah burning books that was a few years before the work and how did he get out of France by plan if the Germans were in the city already ? Besides that it's a very good MOC setup 'Daniel Williams' - although the word 'bank' wouldn't be french (sorry if I'm being picking on the MOC to much). Great work also very good story telling as well and I'm a conformist! ! Edited April 19, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
