zyrex Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Hi! My town/city is a good mix of old 80's and 90's sets and some new sets to complement it :P I came out of my dark ages a couple of months ago and started rebuilding my old sets. Some parts I found, some were missing, some had been painted :( and some were broken. I played hard, it seems :P But most of my bricks were there and in an alright condition. Some of my sets are still unbuilt, but it's slowly coming back to its old pride :) Overview! Every town needs a pizzeria! This one does deliveries. Here's the local gang hangout AKA Hot rod club The little park, often visited by the cute girl and her boombox ..and every little incident is recorded and broadcasted live The suburbs.. This family uses their vacation camper often, judging by the shape of the camper :P A tad worn down.. The police headquarter! All facilities, big budget, small town. Check out the man in the middle upper window, Ducktown takes integration seriously! The ambulance is borrowing a parking spot. Another pizzeria! Known hangout place for the local hot rod gang and bicycle gang. Conveniently situated. Respect the speed limits! Thanks for looking! A firebrigade is on its way! Quote
awesomebrick Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Nice town zyrex! I really like how you mixed the old sets and new sets and it still looks great! The only problem is that maybe you should make all the roadplates the same colour! Quote
zyrex Posted April 18, 2010 Author Posted April 18, 2010 Thanks :) Yeah, you're right about the road plates.. I'm slowly switching out the old ones for the new ones, but I don't like the price :P One problem with old VS new sets is that the police station looks a tad small compared to the houses :P Quote

lightningtiger Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Nice work 'zyrex' - interesting mix of sets there - it's like a real town some old some new - the roadplates issue......well you could say different roadsurfaces for different eras of the town. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
prateek Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 This is really nice! I like where you put the pizzeria Quote
zyrex Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 Thanks :) Yeah, it's asphalt from the olden days, just waiting to be resurfaced :} As for the name of the town, it's because the Mayor is swimming around in the pond by the house ;) Quote
FinalFeature Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 This town looks good so far zyrex. I look forward to the towns progress. LegoGalactus Quote
greg3 Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Nice looking town... I really like the mix of buildings you've got from various Lego eras!! I just wish I had space to set up a town too!! Quote
Griffin Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 It appears to be a nice looking town you've got there zyrex! I like the mix of old and new sets, it does work well together and just makes me even more determined to set up my town with as similar mix. And I really wouldn't bother changing all the roadplates to the new ones; as lightningtiger mentioned (sorry no quote here, just trying to figure out the forum functions); different roadsurfaces for different eras of the town. This is exactly how I plan to set up (and explain) my three different versions of roadplates when I get started on my town. Quote
ACCURATEin Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Welcome! I did the same thing about a year ago. (came out of the dark ages). I look forward to seeing your city progress. Quote
zyrex Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 Thanks guys ;) ACCURATEin: Well, I have a lot of buying and building to do to reach you :P I just received the Fire Brigade the other night. It will be a lovely addition to my town. Now, where to put it ^^ Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Some great sets there, particularly like that early 90s police station. Would you ever considering breaking up the official sets and making a town with a more personal touch using the pieces? Quote

Would you ever considering breaking up the official sets and making a town with a more personal touch using the pieces? Hmmmm! Not so sure about breaking up the official sets, unless I buy more of them. I do have a lot of loose lego lieing around to build with and make MOCs but I just haven't had the time. I don't have my lego where I live, I just visit there every now and then, which doesn't leave much time left to building. The summer vacation will be good though for building ^^ Quote
