Admiral Croissant Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Maybe we could place the best ideas in a poll so we will do what most people would like to do? Quote
Ratshot Posted April 13, 2010 Author Posted April 13, 2010 I'm looking for ideas, not so much a decision on what to do. Its nice when it a surprise. If we have a poll it will be obvious. Quote

Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 How about if we have a contest where we build an army and stage a real battle (say 1450 - 1850 ish)? Quote
the_green_avenger Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 How about if we have a contest where we build an army and stage a real battle (say 1450 - 1850 ish)? You do realize your the only person with 1600 minifigs... Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 That's funny! I meant years....but your interprotation works for me! Quote
the_green_avenger Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 (edited) That's funny! I meant years....but your interprotation works for me! I thought you meant minifigs... but that's accually not a bad idea! A battle contest! Do you mean video or pics? EDIT: I just realized there already is the "bayonetts at dawn" contest... ______ Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Create a crew. Like 5 or more minifigs in a crew and you choose the best one. That means people with limited parts could join in as well. Quote
hawkrider Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 (edited) How about build your best dock, with subsequent building attached. I always love it when a good dock is in a MOC. Me too and I never see dock MOCs. How about if we have a contest where we build an army and stage a real battle (say 1450 - 1850 ish)? Check "Bayonets At Dawn." Joey Lock Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Check "Bayonets At Dawn." He knows, It was a joke. Quote
the_green_avenger Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I just had a new idea! A PotC contest! The mocs are based off a scene from any of the Pirates of the Carribean movies... Quote

I could do a MOC on the new one, It's based off "On Stranger Tides" which I'm actually reading right now, Hopefully they make the movie good. Quote
Capt. Thomas Foolery Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 (edited) How about a "fleshify your pirate MOC" contest? Although, now that I think about it, simply suggesting that we use fleshies on here would encourage most members to force me to walk the plank. I would be interested, though, in seeing what the many talented people on here could come up with if limited to only combinations of the licensed fleshies for minifig crews. Another idea would be to have a community type build based off a mutually agreed upon pirate book or movie. I know not many people have read it, but the book On Stranger Tides is ripe for MOCs as it has many memorable scenes that would be perfect for LEGOfication. Of course, that would require everyone to read it and I doubt people are willing to commit that much of their time. Unless, someone were to simply list the scenes and page numbers for reference. Great minds must think alike. And we already have one other person now who's familiar with On Stranger Tides! Edited April 16, 2010 by Capt. Thomas Foolery Quote

I completely missed the two posts above mine. Great minds must think alike. And we already have one other person now who's familiar with On Stranger Tides! Indeed! Well the scenes are quite basic to understand. Theres the first scene with Beth and John and the Seagulls. Pirate attack. Fight between John and Davies. The Bargain (Join or Die). New Providence Camp (Fires and Puppet show). The months passing (A variety of scenes able to make). Into the Swamp. And so on. Quote

Fight between John and Davies. The Bargain (Join or Die). New Providence Camp (Fires and Puppet show). The months passing (A variety of scenes able to make). Into the Swamp. And so on. If I were a talented MOCist, I would insist on tackling several scenes from the Swamp/Fountain portion of the book. Particularly, during the "botanical" attack as they leave. That whole segment of the book seems designed for LEGO MOCification! So, we've now got one other person who has read or is reading On Stranger Tides...any other takers? Quote
