madoka Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 PAB lists a new part: the "mini knights helmet." There's no pic yet, but being an optimist, I hope that it's the new great helm! Anyone know what it could be? BTW, the part is in metallic dark grey. Quote
ziljin Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Wish they also had a battle armor, then I could mass generic soldiers via pick a brick. Quote
Darth Legolas Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 (edited) EDIT: Oh... PAB! I thought you said Peeron! Samuraiturtle is probably correct then. The Kingdoms helm is too new. Taking a wild guess, I think it might be this: It's kind of sad that Lego's going to put minifig customizers out of business. I'm sure they'll still make a profit from people buying in bulk. That's one thing Lego can't compete with. That seems to be metallic dark gray. It could also be the Persian guard helmet from PoP. They come in that color. ziljin Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 US politics work the same way. The smaller parties who have like 1% or less of votes come up with some issue to draw voters than the big parties just jump in and take the same idea and regain back any voters who converted. So its only natural that Lego will see what popular pieces that the small manufacturers create and see what they could use for their own sets. And Lego has bigger manufacturing capabilities so that means the same piece will be available at a fraction of the price. Quote
samurai-turtle Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 If you checked LDD one of the new pieces is Helmet with Neck Protector and the sword is a Pirate Cutlass (if you ask about that). Quote

I'm sure they'll still make a profit from people buying in bulk. That's one thing Lego can't compete with. I don't think this will happen. Customizers often make parts that are more detailed than the LEGO equivilant (compare the new LEGO great helm the earlier Brickforge example) or parts that LEGO simply will not produce. We will likely never see swords like those produced at Brickarms from LEGO themselves. I don't think that LEGO introducing a few new elements will have any serious impact on the majoer customizers. There are AFOLs who will continue to purchase these elements, and there are others who will never incorporate clone elements into their building. That isn't going to change anytime soon. Quote

madoka Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 Has Lego ever released this helmet in metallic dark gray before? Quote
NorthernKnight Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I'll steal the thread for a moment - i can see there are a couple of new torsos coming to PaB. does anybody have pics, or know if they are any good for castle? Quote

I like the BF great helm better, the new LEGO one is too kiddified for my tastes. Quote
The Crazy One Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Customizers won't go out of buisness. Sure, Brickforge has had over 3 parts taken, but compared to the amount theyvmake, it's nothing. Also, they do tend to do more war realated customs ( eg Brickarms ) which Lego won't touch. I am looking foward to this helmet. ( Just thought I'd say that so I'm not completely of topic ) Quote
