lightningtiger Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Okay, I'm starting on the Pub or Bar or Hotel or whatever you like to call it. First, is the front bar itself - remember it is W.I.P. so I'm looking for any input and suggestions okay so go for it ! Comments welcome - very welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
prateek Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 This is looking great so far. I can't wait for the rest of it. It will be interesting to see how you make the building. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 Thank you 'prateek' for your kind words , I still have to make a few more beer taps and decide which direction I take the building either a hundred year old pub or a modern trendy pub !? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
jonwil Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 What brand of beer will your pub sell? VB? Tooheys? XXXX? Carleton? All of the above? Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 What brand of beer will your pub sell?VB? Tooheys? XXXX? Carleton? All of the above? It will be COOPERS ! - love that Pale Ale of theirs ! Thanks for the reply 'jonwil' - more updates on the pub later today (SA time). I'm a conformist! ! Quote
dr_spock Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Good start, lightningtiger. Do you have a liquor license for the premise? Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 Good start, lightningtiger. Do you have a liquor license for the premise? Thanks 'dr_spock' .........well the tough guy behind the bar said yes ! Posting fresh pictures shortly ! I'm a conformist! ! Like I just wrote more pictures...... Note the beer tap looks more realistic for a minifig to use, beer taps can be a pull handle or lever to one side that springs back whe finished with. I went for the side lever type. Comments welcome, now planning the building itself - ideas anyone ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
dr_spock Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 You could try a 1x1 brick with stud on one side for the beer tap. It doesn't have the square hole in the back like the 1x1 headlight brick. http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/87087 Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 In some ways that part would be better except I don't have many of those on hand and I'm saving some of them for speed limit signs in my town. Thanks again 'dr_spock' for your reply........I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 Somehow this one is clicking the right way, see what you think of this W.I.P. everyone........ Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) I like it, just not as a Pub. Pubs don't have that many windows and are dark. Maybe it should be a martini bar or wine bar, but then it would need some yuppies, trendies and chavs. :D What are you going to do for a Jager machine? Edited April 6, 2010 by gotoAndLego Quote

You haven't been to an Aussie pub have you ? I decided to go modern, many pubs and clubs have darken windows to keep it cooler inside. Also a drive thru bottle shop - I'm still thinking about ! Thanks 'gotoAndLego' for your reply and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
tedbeard Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Just wanted to say I like the foot rail design. I don't recall seeing that before and it is a nice touch. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 Thanks 'tedbeard' for your kind reply , I always try to do something different with my MOC's, so I glad you like the bar rails as I do too ! Back to working on the front bar again today, I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
Lord Arjay Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Looks good. I like the green on it and the rail. Its small details like that I enjoy in a creation, makes it seem complete. Good Job Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 7, 2010 Author Posted April 7, 2010 Well thank you 'Lord Arjay' for your kind words. It's not complete yet - some roof components, side walls and a bottle shop (I hope) to be done yet. I'll be back on it hopefully by Friday if not sooner. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Redcross Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Lightningtiger, some ideas as requested. A beer garden, dart board, pooltable, a pokies room, salad bar, what about some coopers stickers on top of the bar to represent those mats they have. well done. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 Thanks for the comment 'redcross' , this is mainly going to be a small modern front bar with hopefully a bottle shop next to it. As for the Coopers bar mats - I'll be heading to Google Images to find what I need for said bar mats ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
awesomebrick Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Great MOC so far LT are those foilage piece's on the corner? Can't wait to see the finished product I'm a conformist! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 Thanks 'awesomebrick' for your kind reply - foilage piece's - yes just something up there because of the corner window - dam it I better tomorrow (Saturday SA time) get back the finsh the front bar at least - oh yeah the Coopers stickers too - ah Pale Ale ! Posting fresh pictures a.s.a.p. ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 Most bars sell pub-food as well, Wings, Nachos, etc. How about yours? If it were a british pub it could have a cool name, maybe something like "The Brick & Plate". Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 Thanks 'gotoAndLego' for your kind reply - a name - yeah a name - you know I never thought about a name ! Oh by the way I'm going to have a barmaid working in there at nights.......just for the male customers you see ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 (edited) A little more work I have done this morning, I only have to work on some roofing on the frontage now, then start on what is going on the sides of the building, etc.,. A young couple meet outside, while the local law enforcement patrols near by. Just another angle shot of this. And yes, the barmaid is only wearing jeans and a strapless bra, what do you else expect in an Aussie pub eh ? Can you guess what the parrot has been taught to say ? Oh, and this guy, the one trying to look like Clutch Powers, yeah, her boyfriend with a grin on his face .......well there is a storeroom out the back ! Keep those comments comming - always welcome they are and I'm a conformist! ! QUICK EDIT - just thought of the name of my pub, are you ready for it.......... THE CHEEKY PARROT ! Like it - let me know ?.......keep on you know ! Edited April 9, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
Lord Arjay Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Looks great lightningtiger, its nice to see your pub developing. And yes I like the name, very suiting if I guess what that parrot has to say is anything to go by. Eagerly awaiting the finished establishment. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 10, 2010 Author Posted April 10, 2010 Thanks 'Lord Arjay' for your kind words - I have now made a bar mat and stickered the beer taps too ! Now to complete the frontage before considering the next move on the pub's design - I have to build a police station and fire shed real soon, so the bottle shop may have to wait a week or so. Thanks again, and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
