Darth Legolas Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 In the new Prince of Persia sets, the axes are straight up awful quality. Despite what many say, I'm one of the few who actually like Lego's direction, with new themes, but mostly a larger selection of pieces. The new way has it's flubs, such as some blurry printing, and markings under some minifig arms, but all around the pieces are getting more intricate and much better. This really ticks me off though: In the above picture by our member Clone O'Patra, in his Battle of Alamut review, you can see that for some ridiculous reason, Lego has put their label and piece information on the side of the axe. It also has an awful mark on the side. Clearly a result of cheap plastic production. So can any ambassador tell me, please, why Lego would put such obvious markings on their pieces, when the old ones were perfectly fine, just the way they were? This is the most obvious of all piece markings I've ever seen! It's really an awful sight! Why? Thanks, Darth Legolas Quote
CMP Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) I also noticed that in my Fight for the Dagger, the knives had rubbery blades! Not the Dagger of Time, the normal knives. It's like, bendable plastic. My axes from Ostrich Chase have those markings too. Edited April 4, 2010 by CallMePie Quote
JimBee Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 It looks like in an attempt to get the PoP sets out quickly, TLG screwed up on parts quality. I got two PoP sets yesterday, and both had some really bad parts. The swords' pearliness was replaced by a gross glow-in-the-dark-type grey, and in one, the protagonist's face didn't have any black paint (no pupils or mouth printing). Quote
samurai-turtle Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I am thinking they had to make new molds and they decided to put the "marks" on the axes. (I think they are technically halberds not axes.) Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I admit I don't see what the location of the marks has to do with the quality of the plastic, and I respectfully disagree that it makes these "awful." To be honest, while I can understand preferring the older ones with less prominent markings (I would, too), it seems like a pretty trivial issue to me. If the plastic quality really isn't up to snuff, that seems a much greater concern, but I can't tell anything about that from the picture. But that said, if it does concern you so much, why not write to TLG to let them know it upsets you, and that you'd like to see them go back to using molds with the marks somewhere else on the piece? The Eye Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I am lucky not to have encountered such a problem. But if so many people have complaints about the new PoP sets, I think it's due to them releasing them early. After all, the January sets are starting to lose their effect, and they need something new. To be honest, while I would have prefered they had released them on the same day as a movie for quality's sake, I can't blame them. Just order replacement parts. If it's broken, you'll get it free of charge. Quote
