The midnight torches illuminate the old Antebellum structure. As the clock strikes twelve, the Witching Hour is at hand. Spirits and haunts begin to gather outside the Voodoo Lounge awaiting the Bourbon Street patrons. Frightening fun is at hand!

My first modular town building, I present the Voodoo Lounge:

I'll provide additional photos tomorrow evening.

Well it looks sufficiently eerie and I like most of the colour scheme. I find the green to be a bit in my face, not quite sure what to make of it. Nothing says spooky like a cypress tree either. I reserve judgement till more pics are revealed.

I'll provide additional photos tomorrow evening.

Then I shall provide additional comments.

Scooby-Doo, where are you ?!

Looking good so far 'The Brickster' - I really like the colours, plus that tree and Mr. Bones having a rest in the front yard - he must be dead to the world !

Can't wait to see more photos so I'm a conformist! !

Well, then let's take a look in greater detail, shall we?

LT: Thank you. Your feedback and comments are always appreciated -and I love Scooby Doo  .

On the right side are some Disney Haunted Mansion signs:

These decals are from the 40th Anniversary of the Disneyland Haunted Mansion, by the artist known as Shag. I thought they were fitting as the Voodoo Lounge resembles an Antebellum mansion:

Picture #2, I really like the colors in this one:

The left side has three windows with classic green shutters:

Now for some modular disassembly. The sign tilts to the right and the roof can be easily removed:

vl12.jpg

Inside, you can see the two Classic Town lights - yes, this creation lights up with the old LEGO 3C battery box:

The second floor can then be removed:

To access the first:

The backside is rather plain as it goes unseen and the rear wall can be removed for added accessibility:

You'll also notice the plug-ins for the wires to the battery box:

This creation was based on this inspiration image of a Halloween Village sculpture:

And special thanks to BlueBard for posting his modular town creations here in the Town Forum. They provided me the idea to make a smaller version of a town/city modular with limited pieces. This particular creation is 14x14 studs with an extra one stud overhang on each side of the roof.

Oh, and while I could have added a spooky brown tree with bats, I like the tall regal look of the cypress tree - plus I enjoy using Classic Town parts from time-to-time.

I'm still thinking about what to include in the interior, and I may continue the "Moon Over Bourbon Street" collection.

I'll leave you with some inspirational music by Sting:

Comments are welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to comment guys. :classic:

No wonder there is no line up in front to get in.

I especially like the decal work and the way you've done the roof

I've gotten a little better at making custom decals to the sizes needed - thanks BB

I love the decals and the over all spooky feel to it.

My intent was to make something that could fit into a regular town/city without really looking too spooky/supernatural (another reason for the cypress tree). I'm debating on what to build next.

The ghost is very funny!

We can call him Casper.

Are there any pictures of the interior or lights?

I haven't added an interior yet, but when I do, I'll post a picture with the lights on.

Great job buddy  Nice to have a look over all the details. I think the icing on the cake would have been a top hat on Mr Bones out front, perhaps directing people in to the salubrious inner dealings. It all adds up to spooky establishment.

Man, the details on this one is SWEET ! :sweet:

Excellent job 'The Brickster' - I really like those windows on the top floor and the ghost-bouncer - hey even there you need crowd control !

The light up feature - COOL !

Yep, those HM stickers on the side really suit it to a T - perfect :skull:!

Fantastic work and I'm a conformist! ........I really mean I'm a conformist! ! :sweet:

Thanks - you're a detail man. I actually thought of the top hat after I took the photo-edited picture. I didn't want to redo after all the photo-editing time. Good suggestion though.

I would have liked to make a brick-built worded sign, but the decal doesn't look too bad (IMO).

Very attractive! I'm a little perturbed, I must admit, as I wanted to do a voodoo lounge myself, and wanted to be the first, but this is worth seeing.

I envy you having those old lights. I wish I had some. :cry_sad:

Thanks, but I'd still encourage you to build one anyway. I'd be very interested in how you envision a Voodoo Lounge.

This is a nice looking lounge which you have done. I like how you arranged the halloween elements together and present them in a frightful manner. I like the way which you allowed flexibility in the building arrangement and inside the building, you even integrated lights inside. It's a nice feature. If I never seen the actual reference image, I am wondering why could you be using dark green to form the buildings front pillars. It looks a little bit odd, but overall, this is a great MOC.

And yes, I find those 2 stickers very fitting in there.

Nice voodoo lounge. The ghost is very fitting.

The decals are great and I feel that the green adds to the spookiness of it without detracting from the town feel to much.

Thanks for taking the time to comment WF. I think IScreamClone mentioned the green columns as well. I actually like the added color, but I did make one mistake. I should have used green log bricks that I have from a few green MOT Passenger Train Wagons. I think they may have looked a little better, but the thought was after I had photographed.

The ghost is very fitting.

Thanks LA. I'm partial to the LEGO ghost, and enjoy adding a little more playful look with his Casper-like smile. :classic:
