I think I am going to move to army building.

Focusing on cheaper sets with lots of minifigs, animals, and minifig accessories. All my bricks are just sitting in boxes. Only a few select sets are on display. I always find my MOCs disappointing and I dismantle them. I don't have much space. But I like minifigs. The way I am seeing it now, is that minifigs will only be around for a while. but bricks will constantly be produced. But Lego switches colors every now.

Right now I want to get some Prince of Persia sets. Going to get a few Desert Attacks for the horse, and assassins. Maybe a few ostrich races for the ostriches and half naked Dastan to make half naked warriors (Barbarians?). Plus every Dastan I get means I get 2 katanas and the katana holder. Which I think are awesome.

Then Kingdom sets this summer for the knights.

I bought the Troll Mountain Fortress just for the Troll King and Troll Sorceress (Plus my first and only Gray Knight). But I like the set so I have it on display. So I was thinking I might also get the Battle of Alamut for the three Persian warriors. Although army collecting wise, they are too expensive.

I thought of doing the same at one point, I wanted to make a Ninja army... until I saw the BL prices on just torsos alone. sheesh, too much $$$

Exactly, if I wait until later to do army building, the minifigs will be quite expensive. So I figure I should concentrate on army building now. bricks seem to be much cheaper even the oop ones.

Just wait 'till minifigs become common. Most Fantasy Era soldiers sell for about 2 dollars, that's like 5 people for ten bucks. Small sets like battle packs and little 5 dollar sets help as well. Building armies is satisfying. I only have like 15 guys, but they look awesome in formation.

Well an MOC takes up a decent amount of space to look decent. While minifigs have so much detail on them, they look awesome just standalone, even more when surrounded by other minifigs.

Well I probably will build something to display the minifigs like a small terrain moc.

I prefer small teams of unique characters and task forces of about 5 - 10 myself. However a huge army in battle looks a whole lot more impressive. If that is what you prefer, go for it

Well an MOC takes up a decent amount of space to look decent. While minifigs have so much detail on them, they look awesome just standalone, even more when surrounded by other minifigs.

Well I probably will build something to display the minifigs like a small terrain moc.

You could even just display them in the sets, the large prince of persia set would look great with more minifigs.

Well there is that. I just ordered two desert attacks, so when I get the Alamut castle, I guess it will be filled with assassins and Dastans.

And I am sort of doing that with my Troll Mountain Fortress, most of my trolls are on the towers. But the structure itself is quite tiny and doesn't have that much space. I even put some trolls inside the prison.

I think that the opposite is true. A small, well-crafted MOC can look incredible. Army building is all about bragging rights. It's about flexing your financial muscle and amassing a larger collection of similar minifigs than anybody else. This takes both money and shelf space. The majority of army builders I've seen on Brickshelf and other places have amassed hundreds or even thousands of figures which they display on multiple 32x32 or 48x48 baseplates. This is by no means space efficient. How about a shelf of small vignettes showcasing a variety of figures in interesting scenes/activities? With this you probably could get the best of both worlds.

Whole armies are pretty cool. Army building is my favorite thing about Legos. I love equipping people with weapons and then seeing the huge formations I can do. That and city building rocks.

I've got the opposite problem: more money than time. So I find army building to be quite fun. Plus, whenever someone asks me a bunch of questions about my Lego collection, I could tell them I have the largest private minifig collection in the world. In the end, you should just collect/use Lego in a way that make you most happy regardless of what other people say.

Well I ordered one of every Prince of Persia set except Quest Against Time and I ordered an extra Desert Attack. So I will have a few Dastans, Perisan Warriors and Assassins. Decided to not order any more Desert Attacks to save up money for the upcoming Kingdom sets. Although I might change my mind and get more Desert Attacks for the assassins and horses.

I will probably aim for around 50 of each for Kingdoms. I think I should be fine for the Prince of Persia minis.
