Has LEGO Castle Become Cliche'?

I love LEGO castle. I am still upset that I have to scavenge for it in the old colors. I do not and will not collect any part in the new dark gray other than an odd weapon here or there.

It is nice to see new elements being introduced, and new colors for classic parts like flags. Now if we could get more and variable sized sets similar to the market square I would truly be happy with castle.

Kingdoms is looking interesting and for the most part like a good buy. I only really buy for parts though as I don't trust LEGO to create sets worth displaying in the castle series anymore.

While I feel like the theme has become Cliche there isn't a whole lot you can do differently with a Castle theme. They have done the supernatural side, they have done the traditional side (multiple times), they have done the fantasy side and they have done the random side (Knight's Kingdom). I feel like as long as they change it up every one in a while and continue to add new features that the theme will remain interesting and people will buy them. The only way the theme will be revolutionized and revived again would be if Lego acquired the license to Lord of the Rings.
