WhiteFang Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Excellent review, Ricecracker! You sure have done an outstanding job. This set has now, making me look forward to the new releases, and so many new elements and accessories, even the minifigs are so tasty. I just want to get hold of the dual holder that he is holding. Just too wonderful. Thanks for doing this review, despite of the limitations you have. Quote
DarthPineapple Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Wow. The ostriches, figs and katanas (with holder) alone are worth it. Let alone all that dark tan. This will definitely be one of the first sets I'll pick up. Quote
Zorbas Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Excellent review Ricecracker with many great photos! Great set too! I think that this is going to be my first movie licensed set. There are so many beautiful elements in it but the main reason for me is the ostriches. After all, a farm with ostriches is always in demand. Btw, when I first saw Shadow's review announcement in the "last post" box on the main board, I thought it said "Fresh Prince of Persia..." instead of "First Prince of Persia...". Will Smith for the sequel? Thanks again for the review! Quote
FilmGirl27 Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Thanks so much for the review! The set is even better than I thought! Must buy! Quote
Rufus Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Great review Ricecracker! I'm loving the ostriches. Yet another theme I'll have to dabble with... I can see a definite need for an Ostrich Farm for my town! But I'm looking forward to the camels more. I will defenaitly buy this set Best. Typo. Ever! Quote
funkybrick Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Thanks for the great review! Prince of Persia looks like it's going to be a very nice theme! :D funkybrick Quote
Santhor Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 (edited) Great review! Can't wait to pick this up..BTW LOVE the ostriches! Now all we need are Prince of Persia Hassassin and red soldier battle packs. Come on, TLG, I'm WAITING! -Santhor Edited March 21, 2010 by Santhor Quote
fff Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Excellent review Ricecracker, it is definetly expensive, but these are the new lego prices.. i wonder how much will they ask us for the two big ones... Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 A very nice review Ricecracker! It was a pleasure to read it. Now I really want to have this set as well, even if it was for the minifigs and ostriches alone! Great job. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Very swanky, and I'm really looking forward to these sets. I may even see the movie, though honestly the sets based on it are by far the greatest reason for my interest. (Actually, I should note the original videogames in the game series the movie is based on are classics in their own right, though I don't know about the later games). I'm sure I'll enjoy putting together and playing with displaying all the official sets at least once, and then having the parts for use in Indy MOCs and other creations. This review does a great job of showing off what's notable about the set, so thumbs up there. I do have one question concerning this portion: New whip piece. I believe this is the piece that was originally going to be used in the IJ sets, and caused much uproar. Now it's available, so don't you (Yes, you!) frown. What uproar was this? Were people upset about another minifig whip design? If so, why? Quote
Skalldyr Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Wow, you have done an absolutely amazing review and the parts included in the set makes it a "must have"! Quote
Ricecracker Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 What uproar was this? Were people upset about another minifig whip design? If so, why? If I recall correctly, in the some of the prelim box art a whip like this as well as a whip that appeared to be able to stay in a bent position were used. The uses of those parts would've been much greater than the uses of the coiled whip given. I'm not going to be able to answer all of your questions, but I'll try to go back through the thread and find some questions to answer. Quote
Ralph Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 Thanks for the great review Ricecracker! I can't wait to add the ostriches to my zoo, and the new minifigs to my collection. Ralph Quote
Legononymous Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Would be nice if the lego animals had movable legs. I like this set though. Quote
Wout Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Thank you for the nice review. The set looks great with these 5 new figs (yes, I also counts the ostriches ). Only the prize is a bit high, but I think I will certainly pick this set up. I was just looking at the Wikipedia article for the movie and realized that Alfred Molina plays Sheik Amar...This means that he has 3 minifigs based on his character in different movies...isn't that a record or something? -Doc Ock in Spiderman -Satipo in Indy -And now Sheik Amar in PoP... Just thought this was interesting... Thanks for the review! I will probably buy this one as soon as I see it! -darthperson Warwick Davis plays: -Wicket the Ewok in SW RotJ, set 7139 and 8038 -Griphook the Goblin from Gringotts HP 2 CoS, set 4714 -And in autumn Professor Filius Flitwick from HP 1-7, set 4842 That are maybe not that prominent roles as Doc Ock or Sheik Amar, but more than Harrison Ford. The Legonater Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 OSTRICHES. Sorry, over-reaction. I've known about these for months. When I first saw minifig pictures, and saw the OSTRICHES I freaked out. But I might actually get this set. I mean there's OSTRICHES. But seriously, I wasn't even thinking of buying any POP sets untill I read this review. I'll buy it mainly for the OSTRICHES but there's several different reasons too. Such as the double katana holder- that's incredible! The new whip- much better than my straightened piece. The usefull figs, and of course, the OSTRICHES! I should probably stop saying OSTRICHES now... Quote
Hound Knight Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 ^ Methinks somebody really likes ostriches. Great set, and great review Ricecracker! Really makes me want to get it now, maybe I can hunt it down at a TRU or LEGO Store somewhere. Quote
The Legonater Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 ^ Methinks somebody really likes ostriches. Likes OSTRICHES? I love OSTRICHES! OSTRICHES, OSTRICHES, OSTRICHES- I'm doing it again, arn't I? Quote
Valin Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I can't wait to get this set. I really like the ostriches and the katana holder! Quote
RocketClone Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Outstanding review Ricecracker! If you got this early, that hopefully means that we will get these soon. I wonder where Sevlte is right now. Quote
LegoGoku Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I like how the box look's and I really like that katana holder in the back with it's katana's Awesome Figure's And great set I really like the addition of those Ostriches Quote
Jack Bricker Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) Every time I look at your review I like this set more and more. I was initially just interested in the bigger sets but, I am really starting to think that this is a set that I will definitely get. Edited March 23, 2010 by Jack Bricker Quote
blksuperman2 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Nice review. I'll definitely pick this set up. Quote
David Thomsen Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) Okay, I wasn't originally going to get these sets, but I'm beginning to change my mind... these minifigs, now that I can see them, are really quite good... I think I want to see what will be available in the next wave, though. I mean, if there is a next wave... Also I want to know if there's likely to be a sequel, and therefore even more toys... I like collections that grow over time, so getting five sets and that being 'just it' doesn't do it for me. Also: Long hair for a guy! AT LAST!!! I was tired of all my long-haired male minifigs having distinctly girly hair. Oh, and a new colour rag hat for my pirates. Eeeexcellent. [edit] Apparently the rag hat has been seen in black before, but only in the 'Pirate Tank' since I started collecting again, and I have no other interest in that set. Edited March 23, 2010 by David Thomsen Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Great review Svelte! I think I'll be getting this one, as it just holds a ot of cool parts. Though licensed sets are always expensive, the price makes me rate this as above average. Quote
