Now that is cool. :sweet: Where was that picture taken? Now I really want a tank. :cry_sad: Come on Lego do we really have to be so politically correct to the point that you won't even produce a WW1 tank from an Indiana Jones movie. :sceptic::hmpf::hmpf_bad:

I don't know that being "politically correct" had anything to do with it - they've already produced a fighter plane and several other military vehicles in this theme, villains weilding everything from swords to machine guns, and the Temple of Doom. I imagine the only reason they didn't do the tank is because they were doing other sets instead, and that if the theme returns we'll probably get the tank eventually.

Well, there was some speculation that Lego had a tank set in the works and then cancelled it because they thought that it was too violent. The posts with that disscussion should be somewhere in the middle of this thread. :classic:

Its like the reason they didn't do the catacombs, It would have to much religious views to it.

The religious significance of anything in the scene is hardly anything compared to the Ark of the Covenant, and yet they did a set based on the Well of Souls. I think they didn't do the catacombs simply because there are several other scenes that they thought would simply make better sets.

Pics taken at Lego store NJ Bridgewater Mall. Do what I did, build your own.

Any better pictures? I'm assuming it's an MOC, and not the fabled prototype of the Indiana Jones tank.

More pics here and it's mine (just stating the obvious). :classic:

Beautiful find, ACPin!

Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks and still got it somewhere in the basement.

I found more pictures here.

Why didn't Lego release such a set.

the Inventor

Hey, you found them! Not waiting for TLC to do that.

Let's all get back to the topic and thanks for all your comments!

So, using Lego math:

they know fans want a tank + they display a tank in their own store = don't release an actual IJ tank, but instead a flying CW pirate tank-like thing  .

This is a good creation, though it might look better in dark tan(though there are a couple of peices that aren't made in dark tan).

I'm sad that this is so awesome, yet it's not an official set. I'm mad that they would taunt customers by displaying it at a Lego store :sceptic:

Looks just like the official set. It's a pity that the line was discontinued, and we didn't have a chance to see it. I am pretty sure, kids inside the store will be asking where did this tank comes from?

ACPin, thanks for sharing, and this is really a nice piece of work that you have done there.

Delicious, thanks for sharing.

Wonderful design you've got there. An official set tank set would have sold like hotcakes, sadly we can only dream of getting something like that.

Actually, I just walked in the store during my lunch hour holding a shoe box that contained this. The store manager took one look at it and went to the backroom bringing the display case.

My fault for building it, the store staff had no intention of taunting customers for displaying it.

Every time I went to the store when it was on display, the staff lost count of how many customers actually wanted to order it. Believing even that it was a future set to be released and yes the kids loved it.

It was quite an experience during that time that several of my MOCs were displayed as there were a lot of returning customers with their kids that wanted to see what was next.

Thanks and instead of dreaming, you can build your own.

Yeah, sorta like how they didn't make the Ark of the Covenant for the same reason. Oh wait...

Thanks for sharing the tank pic, looks fantastic and just like a real set in many ways. One can always imagine I guess :cry_sad:

It is indeed a nicely done tank, AC. I should have mentioned that before.

I do think that if the line returns next year - a big "if," but I continue to hold out hope (and it's practically a given that if the line doesn't return for the anniversary, it'll return for the fifth movie, though that in itself is another big "if," but anyway...) - then the tank (or even a larger set of the overall scene, with other vehicles, etc.) is one of the most likely candidates. Not only would it be a cool vehicle with tons of functionality and playability, it also represents an ideal place to include several minifigures, including multiple important supporting characters who haven't been done at all yet in official sets.

An official set, of course, would always be improved upon by MOCs, but it would be a great source of parts, as well as an invaluable resource for minifigs. I hope one gets done eventually.

It was designed to be like a real set if TLC released one.

It's always a challenge to do an MOC that hasn't been released as an official set and even though I'm more of a SW builder, this was a nice change of pace for me.

Thanks again for your comments!

Nice find and thanks for the pics!

Thanks!

That's... beautiful! Accurate to the final detail! Do you have instructuions?

I designed it based from pics that I found in the book From Star Wars To Indiana Jones. Sorry don't have any.

I just stumbled upon this tank and must say that it looks terrific. It really is too bad that the Indiana Jones didn't last one more round. I would have loved to see an official tank set by LEGO.

I'm guessing since it was back in Feb 08, it was a possible set. too bad, it looks really good.
