BlueBard Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) As you know, I've been working in my City Display for... well, I can't even remember and now I'm just finishing the last module I've a terrible problem: I have no idea of what can be put in the backyard... It's going to be some kind of music club (the kind of place where a group of music lovers use to meet regularly, nothing with girls and alcohol ) and I had the idea to put in the backyard of the house some boxes, big old speakers, old instruments, maybe a radio transmitor... What do you people think, what can I put there to fill that last place in my display with a bit of life? Any ideas are welcome, and thanks a lot! Edited March 8, 2010 by BlueBard Quote
Still Raindrop Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Sounds like you have some good ideas--what else are you looking for? How big of an area is it, and how much do you think will be filled by what you're planning? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Add some rubbish bins, the good old trash can or the larger dumpster? A cat, or some musician types loafing around? Quote

How big of an area is it, and how much do you think will be filled by what you're planning? Yep, I forgot that It's just a little 8x16 area and it can be as filled as possible Add some rubbish bins, the good old trash can or the larger dumpster? A cat, or some musician types loafing around? Not bad ideas, but I've already filled some of the backyards with "rubbish" stuff , the cat and leafing people have been already used But thanks anyway Quote
prateek Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Make a swimming pool out of tiles or a swing set. Quote
BlueBard Posted March 8, 2010 Author Posted March 8, 2010 Make a swimming pool out of tiles or a swing set. Mmmh... for a club music those things would'nt be weird? Quote
prateek Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) Mmmh... for a club music those things would'nt be weird? Oh, I totally forgot it was a club. If so, a DJ system would be cool. Edited March 8, 2010 by prateek Quote
slacker int Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 i say throw an old couch outback and maybe a barbecue Quote
Carbohydrates Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Little outdoor stage with a couple small stage monitors (though you probably wouldn't want to leave those outside)? Quote
Brick & Mortimer Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 i say throw an old couch outback Make it an old one with patches and all. Great way to combine by example brown with tan Quote
BlueBard Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 Thanks for your advices! i say throw an old couch outback Really interesting idea Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 How about a small garden tool shed with a lawnmower that 'Homer' next door forgets to return each month ! Also a dog in it's kennel and an old fashioned outhouse......yep, we call down under .......a dunny (toilet) ! I'm a conformist! BlueBard' I'm a conformist! ! Quote
remus753 Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Rathskellar outdoor stage I fear I may have incorrectly inserted the link (there are always specific rules and each forum is different, my apologies), but when thinking about your music club and the backyard, a little mini stage with a picnic table or two might be nice. I know space might be limited, but a nice outdoor space to enjoy a fine beverage, some good food, and a band would be nice. The picture is from a restaurant/bar/live music venue in Indianapolis, IN named the Rathskellar. It is modeled in a European style on the inside, but the best part is this huge area out back where you can listen to live music and sample their beer selection. I love the look of the stage, thought it might be great for your music club, though I fear I may have misinterpreted your definition of a music club. Good luck, do post pictures when you figure out what to do. Quote
henryhotspurs Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 How about a couple of skateboarders riding a ramp nearby or some taggers spraying up the back wall? Hey, how about a police squad car investigating something? Maybe photographing a crime scene or interviewing some seedy looking tough guys. Maybe a TV crew interviewing the owner of the club? That would be cool too. Quote
BlueBard Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Thanks for your ideas! Nevertheless here are some details for future propositions : as I said on the first post it's going to be a music club, i.e. a place where music lovers use to meet regularly for playing and discussing about music, it's not a disco. The backyard is really small, actually a space of 8x16 studs, with high fences all around and tiled so, no garden or flowers and I'm afraid no place for "large" activities Quote
Madcat2000 Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Well is it going to be in the middle of the city or in the suburbs? That would have a lot of effect on what to put. If it's in the city just think of what's out behind a building in a big city, such as a dumpster, old boxs and crates, forklift pallets, a hobo, etc. If it's in the suburbs put stuff like a grill, tool shed, and so on. One thing that could wouk for both and help use up unnessacary open space would be a trailer the club uses to haul all their instruments to an event. Quote
BlueBard Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Actually it's in the middle of a city, near the suburbs... Your ideas are nice but the problem is that I already have the typical bins/dumpsters/grills/bbqs/little gardens/boxes/bycicles/sheds in the rest of the backyards. Sorry for being so complicated And thanks! Quote
Eilif Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Hot Tub. Here's a really good one by Pepa Quinn on Brother's Brick. http://www.brothers-brick.com/2010/03/03/s...b-time-machine/ Quote
Athos Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I'm not sure it really fits with what I think you're looking for, but I did up a tree-house. Steve Quote
prateek Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Ok, since it's not a disco, you could have a small stage with chairs or something like that. Quote
BlueBard Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Thanks for helping! These are not bad ideas but I'm looking for some "little" element you can actually have in a backyard... For the moment I'm keeping the idea of an old couch and maybe a really small carrots or tomatoes garden... What do you think? Quote
