Alright, I'd gone to toys-r-us yesterday to take advantage of a BO,GO 50% sale, stayed in the Lego aisle for 4 hours, ended up getting

Venice Canal Chase

I'd kinda had a policy to only, but completely collect the SPIII, Atlantis, and minifigures lines this year, but with the gaps in those collections I can't find two sets with appropriate prices for BO,GOing.

Anyway, I might want to switch out the indy sets for 2 out of 8041Race Truck, 8263Snow Groomer, and 8049Tractor with Log Loader.

I've just recently bought army men, buzz and woody, the skull twin chase set, and the landspeeder. Anybody else think I could use a little technic?

I've got about 3 hours to decide

I say go with what you want. Don't limit yourself to just select themes. If you like something from another theme, get it and enjoy it. :)

As already said, in the end, it's all up to you. The Technic lovers will tell you you need Technic, and the System lovers will tell you to stick with System. I, personally, have never bought a Technic set, I get enough Technic with System sets: Example.
