Fires-storm Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) This tank was designed for quick recon and hit and run missions, and it is one of the most used recon designs created by the inner clans of the Ozark system of commerce. Due to many friendly suggestions, I recently severely editted my little tank, and as such these are now the before pictures: And finally after: I hope you all enjoy the new version! Fires-storm Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 This is rather amusing, this little moc didn't get any comments on lego's site either ah well, maybe a bump will help, so Bump! Quote
Skull-Mark_Ladybug Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Well I can't say that this is the best tank I've ever seen as there are a some issues with it, but it's not terrible. First to be honest this doesn't really seem like much of a tank ; rather it looks more like some sort of Light Armoured Fighting Vehicle, namely due to the big windshield. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as you can exploit this by adding plenty of little details to it that would have otherwise been covered with armor, but I think you should remove the dual lasers on the top of it as they seem way out of place, a smaller machine gun or something could be added to this vehicle instead. lastly I think you need to work out the colour scheme a bit as it looks really random at the moment, it would probably look better in all black or grey. I hope I don't come off as really hard on you since this isn't a bad moc it just needs a little improvement, and at one point we all built like this giving a bit more practice I'm sure you'll be able to top many of the other builders on here . Honestly I thank you for the criticism, and I was thinking of replacing the guns already, just working up a new design as we speak, and I've replaced the brown slopes on the front with dark grey ones, as i think that the black with grey gives it more of a worn appearance and character then just all jet black^^ Also I called it a light tank because of a Sci Fi I like to read called Mech Warrior, where alot of the light tanks have windshields like that, some vene going as far as open cockpits! they rely heavily on rapid mobility and movement so that they can strike rapidly and (hopefully) be quick enough to not get blasted (not to mention Light Armored Fighting Vehicle is one HECK of a mouthful) Also, I thank you for the time it took to write this criticism and helping me become a better MOC creator! lightningtiger Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Nice try at a Sci-Fi MOC 'Fire-Storm' - looks like a heavy duty Star Wars Speeder with a huge blasting cannon on it, also it does have the feel of a space fighter with it's cockpit and engines mount where they are. If you need to just go back and look at it from every angle and MOD your MOC - heck I've done that to heaps of my own MOC's posted right here on EB. Keep on trying and I'm a conformist! 'Fire-Storm' I'm a conformist! ! Quote

I've taken your advice and looked at it from all angles, and have been modding my tank from late last night, just removing things that didn't look right, I'll be sure to post the new pics here soon! Fires-storm Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Ok, finally got the new version pics up in the main post, yay. Quote
Skull-Mark_Ladybug Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Well it's certainly looking better than it did before, but I think it still needs to be smoothed out a little bit, I like that you tried to use snot to add those grey slops on the side, however they still look kinda tacked on as do the engines. It might be better if you just used basic studs up construction to slope the vehicle overall. I also think the engines really need a bit more detailing perhaps try to design new engines without using the prefab engine piece as the base of the engines. I'm a conformist!! Quote

I'm a conformist!! thanks for the critique, and the reason I use the SNOT attachment on the side is that though you cant see it in the new pics, the slope of the front comes down to far so it would blend like crud if I tried the normal technique^^" and as for prefab engines, I was considering it, but I'll need to take inventory of my pieces first, not to mention how to replace the two rocket pods on the front of em, so possibly more mocing/updates soon. Man maybe I shoulda named this a WIP Quote
