Rijkvv Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 (edited) For a boost in interest in the Wild West theme, I think it will be a good idea to re-show old Western series. I personally have never heard of The Lone Ranger, so for me that can be a point for not buying any possible The Lone Ranger-licensed set. Besides, a theme like Lucky Luke wouldn't start my interest either. Themes are something what TLG should design themselves, not by a movie or series producer. Another thing: generally are licensed sets more expensive. You don't only pay TLG, but the movie/series company as well. Edited April 4, 2010 by Richie Quote
sok117 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I honestly can't say I know of any western that lego would get a license from. I think western is meant to be like castle, or city, There just made for creativity, not recreating movie scenes. So my vote is for non-licensed western themes. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 I think it's highly unlikely that we'll see a licensed LEGO Western theme. As a HUGE fan of Western movies, they just don't sell at the box office anymore. Jonah Hex might have a little potential, but I don't think it will be big enough for a theme. If there is some hope, it might be in the form of an adventure western movie like Zorro or Wild Wild West, although even these were short-lived movies. What would I like? It doesn't so much matter to me as long as we see the return of Wild West. I would probably lean toward "unlicensed" though, as I don't think LEGO needs a license to create a nicely designed collection of sets. Let's keep our fingers crossed and those letters and interest to LEGO coming. Interesting topic KD. Quote
metalandi Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 IF, and that's a huge "if", there will be a new western theme anytime soon, i hope it won't be a licenced one. An unlicended theme just has SO much more possibilities for sets than a licensed one. The variety is pretty much unlimited, while a licenced one could pretty much only feature sets that show scenes, characters, vehicles and places of that ONE film. some might say now star wars also were films and there are like 4 millions ets, but boy, star wars is taking place in like a whole universe and over a span of multiple years, so that can't be compared to a western movie that basically is happening in one city. Sir E Fullner Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 Here's a sentence on my opinion: "Yellow rules, Flesh druels" Let's keep it unlicensed, folks. Quote
