What do you think will be the most popular line of 2006? Will Star Wars get left in the dust of Spongebob, or will City wipe the floor with Avatar?

For me it'd either be Star Wars or Exo-Force, the Exo's were such an awesome surprise at the beginning of the year, and the new Star Wars sets look awesome.

I've gotta go with Batman (natch!) but a strong 2nd will be Spongebob. Exoforce is really a great line - it's one that I went into Enfield knowing absolutely nothing about, and coming home with a number of the sets for my kids. (They love them BTW - the light up feature is a great addition.) As to SW, I'm not a SW guy, so I really don't pay attention to the property much. Vikings and KK also look great, so I guess what I'm saying is, I anticipate LEGO having a great year!

For me its techinc all the way, but i'm sure batman will be the most popular. I dunno, these new avatar sets just don't seem very impresive to me. Neither do Sponge bob. Guess i'd understand more if i were 10.

Starwars is defentlyup there, but i don't beilve they will surpase Batman.

All my lego money wil be spent on techinc and city, but i'm sure Batman will rein supreme.

Popular sets will be SW for sure because of both fans, collectors and children all wanting them.

I think Exo Force will be the most popular in Asian countries and Batman in the US. Europe usually has a good split due to the different tastes verses the US desire for violence. ;)

hard to predict, but if, and that's a major "IF", TLC manages to advertize for the Batman-launch well, sales for the line might skyrocket. SW will sell less I reckon (no new movie/series/demand quenched), Spongebob will follow, KK2 will sell quite good (considering both maxi- and minifig-sets), Racers will do well. Exo-Force will have its waay though. My visit to the Lego store near me showed me, that the target group will get its hit on the line (observed at least 2 boys aged 7-12 building newly acquired Exo-Force bots on the site!).

I bet Batman will be "Line 2006". Strong introduction, strong advertisement = win.

Cutty

Like most people I think Batman, atleast in europe and north america. We must wait some more years before manga and anime takes over europe or atleast becomes the 50% side when it comes to cartoon and comics.

KK2:3 has potential, do not underestimate old series... Bionicle sounds like it will fall due to critizism from fans (though, its wierd to see so many castlers happy over how the new baddies look like ogres and trolls and are thinking of buying some).

SW will always be popular as it is collected by people outside the Lego community.

Exo-force will also do well the sets seem to be selling fast in the UK most of my local shops only have a few sets left.

i guess there's a difference between popular and selling well.... like vikings, batman will be quite popular, but won't be selling great...

i think sw will do very well. city will probably do well also, like exo... i just don't see a really smashing hit, this year, like the city theme in 2005...

Batman will have LEGO wondering why they didn't think of it sooner :P

Of course Star Wars and Bionicle will do well, and I think the newcomer Exo-Force will be a big hit too, but none will compare to Batman in it's initial run I think. nuts.GIF

Although the sad part is LEGO really had a head of steam going last year with the Vikings...and this year it looks like they've stepped back on those a little...If Vikings was given another full wave, I could see that doing well...but that doesn't look likley right now :(

I agree with you. Batman will achieve its greatest success in the US, simply because the character is an icon of American pop culture. I mean, if LEGO acquired the rights to a popular European character like Ast

Though I'm more of a SW guy, I'm gonna have to go with Batman and Exo-force on this one. The great Star Wars sets that are coming out this year (Sailbarge, Slav 1, ISD, etc.) are mostly either pricier re-designs or big expensive deluxe sets. That appeals to adult collectors like me, but I think it might not draw in kids and their parents like the cheaper, newer, hotter Batman and Exo-force sets will.

Spongebob will also be very strong, I think.... Avatar, not sure. I like the sets myself, but the appeal might be a bit too limited to catapult it into super-profitability.

Definitely I will be supporting the Knights' Kingdom and Vikings ones as long as they're the closest things we will see to historical sets.

Besides that, I think that this year the winners are the licensed ones: Star Wars, Spongebob and of course, Batman. I love'em all!!!!!!
