Rick Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 How do you browse Eurobricks? Do you go to the forum index and click on the fora you're interested in to see if there are new posts or do you actively use the 'New Posts' or 'Active Topics' option? Personally, I always use the 'Active Topics' option as it provides a nice (reverse) chronological list of topics with recent activity. I'm always interested to see what's being posted across Eurobricks and I want to make sure I don't miss out on anything. Quote

I don't recall using the 'New Posts' option, but I have used the 'Active Topics' option numerous of times. Quote
Dr Kilroy Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I manly use "Active Topics" option, but when I search for paricular MOC, I prefer browsing fora. Regards, Dr Quote
Fugazi Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I'm a classic kind of guy, I just browse the topics one by one! Yeah, I realize this means that some sub-forums I almost never visit, shame on me! Quote
Spyder Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Usually I use the "Active Topics" button to find out what people are talking about, but when I'm not logged in, I'll usually search the topics individually. Quote
Rufus Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 7 months in and I'd never noticed the 'active topics' control. Thanks! Quote
Ricecracker Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I always use the Active Topics button. I've been doing this since I first found the site, when you could browse even if you weren't registered. Siegfried has made it even easier by adding it to the toolbar near the top. If I'm looking for a specific topic, I'll do one of two things. If I know the topic starter, I'll search for the member, and them check the topics that they've started. If I don't, I'll use the search function from the My Assistant panel. Quote
JCC1004 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I first look at the new topics then check fourms the I normally do such as, B/S/T/F's, SW, General Discussion, and some others. I don't go into other forums much. Quote
Big Cam Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Active Topics, at least 100 times a day. I've started more and more "destination browsing" heading straight to a forum, usually the RA, SW, or mafia forum. Quote
YG-49 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 *Checks Active Topic list* ...The Inventors House... ...The Endless Journey... ...Prince of Persia 2010... Hey! I didn't know we had a How do you Browse Eurobricks topic! Quote
Sandy Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Heh, at first I thought you were asking for instructions on how to browse Eurobricks! Who uses a plural like "fora" anyway? This isn't latin we're speaking here. Anyways, I mainly browse the forums that interest me. Now and then I peek into other sections, but usually there's nothing of interest in them for me. Quote
Svelte Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I always have used New Posts - maybe coz it's closer to my 'clickin' finger' It doesn't seem that different from Active Topics anyway, which I get more results for. But I don't want more results! 5 pages of new posts in the morning is enough for me Quote
Zorro Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I start with reading the active topics, then I go to my favourite forums one by one to check for news. Only if the 'last post' is still old, I do not read them since that shows no new posts are made. Quote
prateek Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I "mainly just visit the fora I'm interested in through the forum index" Quote
JimBee Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 I do a little of both. First I check the most important forums for me, which are Wargames & Mafia Games and the Reviewers Academy. Once I'm done with that, I check the first page or two in "active topics", and finally do a quick sweep through my regular forums, clicking the scroll button on my mouse over the "read last post" button, for mulit-tasking (tabbing) goodness. That's 2 hours of conversations you have missed thanks to being regular! Active Topics for the win! *It doesn't seem to always work that way. But Active Topics does show more. Quote
ILikePi Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Whenever I log onto Eurobricks, I always open up the LEGO General Discussion and News, LEGO Licensed and LEGO Star Wars forums in new tabs first. After I'm done browsing the first page of those three forums, I open up the LEGO Action Themes, LEGO Town and Other LEGO Themes forums. I then check out the Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds, Community and Culture & Multimedia forums. After that, I look around at the other forums like the Reviewer's Academy and Minifig Customization Workshop. Finally, after doing all of that, I then click the "Active Topics" button and look for any topics that I missed. Quote
RileyC Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I browse individual topics. I go Website and & Forums, The embassy, General Discussion and News, Licensed, Town, Train Tech, Wargames and Mafia Games, Community, Culture and Multimedia then back to Star Wars all in new tabs. Active Topics is a nice way to view hot topics in every forum but I dont really use it that much Quote
Rick Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Heh, at first I thought you were asking for instructions on how to browse Eurobricks! I seem to know that by now Who uses a plural like "fora" anyway? This isn't latin we're speaking here. Sophisticated people do... Active Topics for the win! Indeed! 'New Posts' doesn't always act in a way I'd want it to. Plus as you've said Active Topics does show a complete reverse chronological topic list (irrespective of whether you've read it or not, so that topic you 'meant to respond to that later' doesn't disappear). WhiteFang Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Whenever I am on Eurobricks, I always refresh the "Active Topics" to check the current discussion, followed by visiting the key forums that required my attention such as the Reviewers Academy, Town, Mafia Games and etc. In this way, it give me a wider spectrum for me to keep in touch with the current discussions/topics. Shadows Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Let's see... I come to EB via the forum index and immediately hit new topics in one tab and new messages in the other. I then open all the new topics I want to view in new tabs and all the messages in new tabs. I then open all the topics in the messages in new tabs. I then open the admin control panel in a new tab to deal with those people who posted the messages that were reported in the messages that are all in new tabs. I then start a new topic in a new tab while putting the person in the taking a break group in a new tab. Hilarity ensues. Quote
