Shadows Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 If the note was real, OBVIOUSLY it would have been spelled out in anagrams You're a tricksy one. If I don't end up shooting you, I might have to ... *glances over at Sandy* ... become your pen-pal.
Hinckley Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 Let's open those dark tan 2x2 compartments then! *All of the compartments open revealing nothing, except for two. Most compartments hold the dust and deteriorated pieces of old parchments. None have any discernable information on them. There is a letter in one compartment and one compartment will not open.*
Ricecracker Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 *I'd like to gently take the letter out of the compartment, and read it aloud to everyone else.*
Shadows Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 *I'd like to gently take the letter out of the compartment, and read it aloud to everyone else.* I'd like to find a comfy spot on the hard stone floor to sit and listen, while keeping an eye on everyone. And the ceiling. And that hole.
Ricecracker Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I'd like to find a comfy spot on the hard stone floor to sit and listen, while keeping an eye on everyone. And the ceiling. And that hole. You crazy three-eyed people...
Hinckley Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 *I'd like to gently take the letter out of the compartment, and read it aloud to everyone else.* *Richard opens the letter and reads it out loud. "…wasn’t able to save Mr. Harcourt in time. If we see him again though, we know what to do. Hang onto the swords. They have several uses. It took us a while to realize that the altar in the Grand Chamber isn’t the altar. The little bench in the courtyard is the actual altar. It said so in the Scriptures. Even the tour guide didn’t realize…The point is, if somebody in your group goes missing, check the courtyard. Not to mention what waking the demons does to the Ceremony Chamber. But I’ll get back to that later. The Brotherhood came out of the forest shrouded in cowls and robes and dragged several members of the group into the jungle. We found two of our group, dead, on the altar and that’s when the statues started moving. It wasn’t until the third sacrifice… " The letter is, again, not complete. This seems to be another small portion.* *Even though the compartments have nothing in them doesn't mean they are done giving up any clues they may hold...*
Shadows Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 The Brotherhood came out of the forest shrouded in cowls and robes and dragged several members of the group into the jungle. We found two of our group, dead, on the altar and that’s when the statues started moving. It wasn’t until the third sacrifice… Ut oh. Maybe I'm wrong about Stanton, but if they want sacrifices, why are they killing people in other places? It's still like we're dealing with two different issues here, thieves and cultists. Thieves are brutal but only covering their tracks, the cultists have a 'higher' purpose, just a really twisted one that we need to stop. *Even though the compartments have nothing in them doesn't mean they are done giving up any clues they may hold...* Of course! I should have seen it before, it's so obvious! Someone figure that out, please.
fallentomato Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 *Even though the compartments have nothing in them doesn't mean they are done giving up any clues they may hold...* *Looks on the inside of the compartments and back of compartment doors for etchings/carvings/fingerpainting/other clues*
Sir Dillon Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I'd like to look at the cupboard that won't open. Is there a keyhole, or perhaps a ridge we can use to pry it open? I would also like to examine the empty cupboards, feeling for any kind of latches or levers inside.
Dannylonglegs Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I think that maybe the first letter was faked, saying that the cultists are the theives, and trying to make Monica look bad, but the writer was a Cultist. I also think that you guys are waving your weapons around like crazy Alaskan poachers! Please stop aiming your guns at each other, we're potentially dealing with two different threats, we don't need another person going rouge. I also noticed the last name thing, but you beat me to it.
Hinckley Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 *Looks on the inside of the compartments and back of compartment doors for etchings/carvings/fingerpainting/other clues* *Fred Thomas checks the inside of the compartments and finds nothing useful. However, he find this message etched onto the back of one of the compartment doors:* I'd like to look at the cupboard that won't open. Is there a keyhole, or perhaps a ridge we can use to pry it open?I would also like to examine the empty cupboards, feeling for any kind of latches or levers inside. *Diana examines the compartment that won't open. It is thicker than the others. Possibly this compartment was blocked by a thick square peg or something clever mechanism opens it...* *Diana feels around for levers but only finds a gigantic scary spider. She jumps into Quentin's arms for protection.* How about the sword? *How about it? * we don't need another person going rouge. *Donna reveals her hatred for the color rouge.*
Dannylonglegs Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Oh, how clumsy of me, I mispronounced the word rogue, blasted French folk putting e's anywhere they feel like it! I do hate rouge though... I hoped no one would find out. I'm not sure what to make of those strange markings on the paper fred is holding up, but I'm really good an this sorta thing, and I'll try to solve it as long as it's in English (I can do some French though, although it doesn't aid my spelling of the words)
Dannylonglegs Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Got it! ; The statue on the left holds a torch in his left hand The statue on the right holds a torch in his hand The center statue holds two swords The sword are crossed *Takes sip of coffee and puts down the news paper and smugly grins at the camera* Too easy!
Hinckley Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 The statue on the left holds a torch in his left handThe statue on the right holds a torch in his hand The center statue holds two swords The sword are crossed *That solution is correct. (Holy crap)*
Shadows Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 *That solution is correct. (Holy crap)* I was equally impressed, Mr. Voice. I bet it took longer to make that pretty puzzle than to solve it. Er, I mean, carve it into the stone and all. So, I suppose we should do all those things. I'd like to put a torch in the left hand of the left statue and wait for others to join in.
Sir Dillon Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Well done Donna. How did you figure that out? So, I suppose we should do all those things. We only have one sword though, don't we?
Dannylonglegs Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Well done Donna. How did you figure that out? Oh, It was just a simple logic question really just like Sudoku. about the swords, well I was confused about that too, but I figured that maybe we would find another, hopefully..
Shadows Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Well done Donna. How did you figure that out?We only have one sword though, don't we? I was hoping that perhaps, with the other parts in place, we could simply apply pressure to the other arm, gradually increasing until it approximates the weight of the second sword (it can't know it's a sword or not, only that it has the right weight). I see no logical reason we can't trick our way past the sword problem.
Hinckley Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 I'd like to put a torch in the left hand of the left statue and wait for others to join in. *You don't have a torch.* I see no logical reason we can't trick our way past the sword problem. *A logical yet invisible hand slaps Sheldon in the face. Sheldon realizes that it'd be much quicker to find the torches and swords then to be a jerk and try to pull on the arms which may result in the disrepair of the statue making the solution of the puzzle impossible. So shut up. *
Shadows Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 *You don't have a torch.* Oh, right. My inventory icons haven't been showing up lately, so I forget what I'm carrying. > INVENTORY Items in your possession: gun (with 3 bullets), large femur, letter (accusatory), torch > *A logical yet invisible hand slaps Sheldon in the face.* Have I told you lately that I love this game ... of life ... Mr. Voice?
Hinckley Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Have I told you lately that I love this game ... of life ... Mr. Voice? *Sheldon gets slapped again. *
Hinckley Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 *The group starts to think about how to solve the mosaic puzzle.*
Svelte Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 How many tiles of each colour do we have? Can we have a tally? Also can we repost the relevant pics at the top of this page so we don't have to continually refer back to the earlier pages? Yes, I'm lazy. But I'm beautiful with it, so it's worth it
