501st Commando Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Since I am trying to build outside of SW I decided next would be modern art. So here it is! A group photo. The spine. Deforming cube. Splatter Conflict. Electric rain. Bubble glass. Quote
prateek Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Nice abstract art. I like the spine, and the conflict is really nicely done Quote
Tereglith Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 (edited) These are neat! They'd look right at home in a minifig art museum. I admire anyone with the patience to pull off a string of incompletely connected bricks as long as that! Edited February 12, 2010 by Tereglith Quote
Ezechielle Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Very nice! I am planning to make a LEGO contemporary art museum Quote
mikey Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 These are all really nice to look at, my favourate is 'conflict', but i totally agree that 'the spine' shows a disturbing amount of patience! I like these on two levels, firstly that they are nice little creations, but on a second deeper level that whilst these are MiniFig representations of modern art, they work as 'Modern Art' on their own. One of the websites I came across when I first began to search for Lego on the net was Minifig Mueseum of Modern Art, it seems to have been ruined by advertising frames since I last browsed it, but I really think Lego is particulary expressive medium for abstract art sculpture. By building with Lego we all participate in a form of modern art, so to build with the aim of representing contemporary artwork, is a really interesting avenue of expression. Quote
booga-b Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 fav would be the spine. the rest are ok too Quote
501st Commando Posted February 13, 2010 Author Posted February 13, 2010 Thanks for the comments everyone. Quote
ImLost Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Nice! My favorite is the deforming cube. As a person who has an art background, I have to say their compositions, as well as their colors schemes, are all well done. I think they would look great in some sort of diorama. Quote
The Player Nº1 Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Really good. How did you did the spine? I loved it. Regards Quote
