That is really kool looking. I like how you made the tools and the vice especially. Seems like people can make anything with Legos these days lol. I think he is fixing an big robot arm in for repairs. Perhaps the Tomb Raiders practice fighting robot. I think it's tech meets magic because the nice book is there. Perhaps after he finished working on the robot he casts a magical spell to make it come to intelligence life. Reminds me of my favorite RPF "Arcanum" where it's a steampunk world of tech meets magic.

Another awesome MOC from The Brick Times! Took me a while to realise it was an arm, I thought it was a bench of sorts. The vice is indeed a very neat detail. Great job, thanks for sharing!
