Darth Hawken Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) I was just curious to know what is the average time you spend on Legos a day if at all? I suppose most of the members of EB are AFOL's and have jobs yet TFOL's have school too so most people are occupied most of their day. I just wanted to know how much time you devote to legos on an average day. For me I would say in a day I spend 3-4 hours or none at all in a week about 10-20 Also what is your build rate and how long does it take you to make a creation? For myself I build slowly and take my time focusing on the details. Edited February 2, 2010 by Darth Hawken Quote
Daniel Williams Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) I'm guessing about 89 hours a week or so, mostly on lego tanks and WWII soldiers. 3 to 5 hours per each creation. Edited February 2, 2010 by Daniel Williams Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Usually 3 or 4 hours a night or zero hours a night. Probably average 15 hours a week. Quote
sok117 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I average around 7 hrs a week if im lucky, as a TFOL Its really hard balancing school and freetime, I'm currently building sets for an upcoming brickfilm (my first one) Quote
dr_spock Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I don't watch TV, so an hour or two here and there on a quick build or MOC. Quote
Tereglith Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 It really depends on what else I'm doing that week, and what inspiration hits me. I'll often spend four hours during an afternoon/evening doing a rough form of an MOC and then spend a couple hours through the rest of the week tweaking it, but that'll use up all of my LEGO-ish creativity for the time being. I average two small to medium-sized MOCs every three weeks that I put a lot of time into getting right. Quote
prateek Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 If EB counts, then I'll say around 10 hours a week. Quote
Modulex Guy Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Being in college, finding time to build is scarce. on a weekday I can build for about 15 minutes to half an hour a day. On a weekend if I do not have a paper to type then I can sit and build for 3 to 5 hours. Quote
Legoist Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 So little that it's hard to estimate In January I spent only a couple of evenings, probably 4-5 hours altogether. I am just so busy in higher-priority issues that not much is left for Lego. Quote
CopMike Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I'm guessing about 89 hours a week or so, mostly on lego tanks and WWII soldiers. 3 to 5 hours per each creation.89 hours/week - impressive considering a week consists of 168 hours. I guess you have enough money so you don´t have to work.I think about 5 hours a week now, haven´t got my new Lego room set-up yet . Quote
Ras 74 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I think about 5 hours a week now, haven´t got my new Lego room set-up yet . Keep working CM, and you will get there! I will come and help you out 22-26th in this month. Load up on RedBull prepare all the pieces you want to be sorted and we will have some crazy sorting! I would say right now I spend around 10 houers on LEGO every week right now. This time is mostley for sorting up my collection. Will pretty soon be all done once and for all! Til I buy new things Never ending project Quote
Big Cam Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 If you count Eurobricks, I'd say about 20 hours a week. Otherwise I don't get into my collection as often as I'd like. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Well, usually my time spent on LEGO equals my time spent on Eurobricks these days. Sometimes I get/make time to put together old sets, take pictures for reviews, sort, etc. but on average it's just Eurobricks. Since I spend at least one to two hours a day on Eurobricks (probably), that's at least ten to fourteen hours a week. Quote

Til I buy new things Never ending project That sounds sooo familiar. I'm currently changing my sorting system from color-wise to brick-wise. Still I think I can easily use double of the space I have got right now. Quote
Davey Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I'd have to guess I spend about 1-2 hours a night (7-15 hrs/week) down in 'The Lair' on average. Some weeks it will be more (like when we are leading up to a show) and some will be less. Creations usually take me anywhere from a couple hours to many months depending on what I am building. A lot of times if I get 'builders block' I will go back and 'tweak' old MOC's to make them better. It just depends on my mood. -Davey Quote
BlueDragonZ Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I spend about 15 minutes each day on average. I'm really busy these days and don't have much time for lego. Quote

My time doesn't involve buying as it is modding my old sets. Quote

Does this mean you spend three straight days without sleep or break dedicated to modding and doing LEGO related things? And also what do you mean "but now…", does that mean you're in college now so you actually aren't going 72 hours nonstop? Daniel Williams Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Sorry, what I meant was 7 hours non stop and 2 hours posting pics here, I'm now going to have to focus on college because the semester starts soon. I'm sorry if my last post sounded weird. Quote
def Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Usually about 4-5 hours a week or less. I spend more time here than I do on the hobby. Quote
Piranha Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Depends what time spent means Thinking about LEGO- all the time Looking at LEGO- most of the time Building LEGO- Rarely, only when I get set Browsing EB- Alot of the time Quote
RileyC Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Um I browse Eb a lot probably. Once when I get up, when I come home from school, before dinner and sometime after dinner and bed time. I have all my lego in my room and I do look and hold it at least twice a day. I dont really build mocs that much because I dont have a lot of pieces to moc but I do like to play with a few bricks twice a week at least. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Interesting! While school and work takes a lot of time I still have some time left. At least 3 hours a day, in the weekends I'm able to reach 10 hours. Rest of the time I play some games, being active on EB and if the weather is good I'm hanging around outside. I would be a rich man if I would get money for every hour I build with LEGO! Quote
