MOC: Minifig-scale Renault Kangoo

We in Sweden are special. So special, we get our own postal vans. And they are crap. Anyway, more about that later on...

Now to my MOC. I wanted to build some 5-wide postal vehicle MOCs for BrickVille, as my minifigs complained that they never could get the sets they ordered through SaH. (I answered them: Yeah, that´s bloody right you don´t. You are using my computer, my bank account, and most important of all, my money. But that´s another story..) Aaaanyway, I decided to build an "army" of these (4+). I built one with the parts I had and planned to get the pieces for the rest of them through BL, but I decided to post it here first for feedback and improvement ideas.

Now for the pics:

I know the back lights is about 1 cheese slope too high, but if I cut down on 1 cheese slope, it wouldn´t get the right shape.

And yes, I will put a window here. I just don´t have the pieces, I´ll order them at the same time as the other 3(+) vans.

The van also features a working sliding door...

The Renault Kangoo have this "rounded" bottom (see the reference pics in the bottom of the post). To achieve this on my model I used some jumper plates and SNOT ( ):

I know the wheels looks a little too small for it. I would use these, if they were available in light bley or chrome silver:

Unfortunately, the Renault Kangoo is misfortunate as a postal van (suck on that, BrickVille Citizens ), so I bet mine will look like this in a couple of days:

I have seen this MOC in real, and these pictures just dont make it justice, it looks even better in real. It looks as spot on as it can in this small scale. Good job.

That's fantastic! You have put so much detail and functionality into such a small van, well done. When you build your next batch of them, could you please take some more photos of the sliding door mechanism, I'm interested in how you did it.

And how sturdy are the lights at the back? And you could always remove the 1 x 1 clear plate at the bottom to reduce the height.

That's one awesome van. The way you made the sides slope is genious, and I like the back too. How did you keep the cheese slopes together at the back?

Great looking van! My only criticism is that the hinges that make up the windsheild looks a little awkward. But then again, its hard to make a windsheild when building a 5-wide. But overall, well done! I hope you didn't glue those rear lights together!

That's one incredibly detailed model. Though I must ask, how are the cheese slopes attached?

The cheese slopes were from the beginning actually held together with friction only. It worked pretty well... until I wanted to open the doors.

So I strengthened them with a tiny, tiny bit of Tac-It on each of the cheese slopes, which helped alot.

When you build your next batch of them, could you please take some more photos of the sliding door mechanism, I'm interested in how you did it.

Sure, I can do it with this one too. I´ll (partially) disassemble it and take some pics as soon as I can (read: as soon as I can find my camera ).

Yeah, simple solutions are usually the best.

The tiles hold it in place. If you tip it over on its right side the door will fall out though. At first I had a 'mechanism' (a few plates and tiles) which prevented this, but it made the van 1 plate too high (didn´t look right), so I removed it.
