So, you were saying your rifle is like the newer or older sets with your reissue? In any case, I'm sure a lot of the older sets we've bought off Ebay and the like probably didn't have the 89 accessories (if these were the "harder" ones) simply because that stuff gets lost easily, but they were nice enough throw in some weapons, and maybe some extra mini-figures.

To clarify: the first recorded incidents of the "new" musket are in 1999, in the Ninja line. Before that, I think it's safe to assume they were of the middle two varieties, with the very first one being from the first wave only.

My bad... I was thinking of the cross bone clipper... :imperialguard_commander1:

Not sure, but slyowl says its 'new'

No, I got the sets new (for my seventh bithday, which was pirate themed, lol) In 2002 not 2000. And unlike the newest wave, the color of the rifle was still the normal old brown.

I have been purchasing the new 2009-2010 lego pirate sets and have realised that the weapons quality is different from the older lego pirate sets, but I can`t figure out why. Does anybody know why?

I was talking about the swords. How do you get the harder ones?

I'm not entirely sure. Either it's because of region, or just plain luck (I don't have any)

Could possibly be because at one time TLG used a different material, then changed it.
