Daniel Williams Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) Has anyone played or heard of Lego Risk? OK I'm guessing no, but what you think of if I built one out of Lego? This is my plan there will be two Allied Commanders and two Axis Comannders in charge of their armies of four tanks, two recon jeeps, thirty soldiers each representing one army, and five artillary pieces. Four players is the limit. Oh one problem though how do you thnik I should set it up? Any suggests? PS I'm not really sure where to put this topic. Will add photos of all pieces later, comments, suggests and questions welcomed Edited February 1, 2010 by WhiteFang Slightly adjust the title for clearer clarity
ILikePi Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) My brother has a Transformers Risk board game that he got from a cousin. I can take a picture of the board if you need some inspiration. There's a couple of sliding and rotating pieces that are on the board, too. You should try putting features like that into your board to make it more interesting (by using pieces like bricks with grooves and turntables). Good luck on your endeavor! Daniel Williams Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 (edited) Yeah, can you please take a picture of the board, that would help considering I'm not sure how many pieces I should put during game play oh and also can you post some examples of what the rules are that help to. Thnks UPDATE Here's what I have so far... Edited January 29, 2010 by Daniel Williams
LegoDad42 Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I'd say go micro scale. So you can have large armies on the board, little vehicles, planes, etc. And the board won't be so huge. Love to see how it turns out.
Legorski Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I'd say go micro scale. So you can have large armies on the board, little vehicles, planes, etc. And the board won't be so huge. Love to see how it turns out. Agreed, micro is the way to go. I like the idea of Lego Risk, might steal it sometime! Xd
Dannylonglegs Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 This is interesting, I was just talking with sir brickme on the subject, and all of a sudden, a topic pops up! As for the game Lego Risk, I think it's a fun idea. as for the excicution, I would make a LARGE map of the world over top a grouping of big blue plates, and use the new micro mini figures that show up in the new LEGO games as a soldier, perhaps a mini brickbuilt hore-like thing for the calvary, and a 2by2 cannon for the cannon. Those are my thoughts on the matter. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
Daniel Williams Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 Here's some of the pieces Allied Tanks [need to build two more and four Axis tanks] German Assassin Allied Soldier Generic Aircraft [7 more are needed to build up a full game] Updated Board How the rules go The Set up 1.There shall only be only two teams of two or two teams of one, no more than four players per game, also there will be a five or third person watching both teams to make sure no one is cheating and/or chooses which team will go first, by flipping a quarter 2.The teams choose to either be Allies or Axis Forces 3.Both teams are allowed ten army pieces during game play, see rules for reinforcement armies and or medical aid The Rules 1.Set up the board 2.Both teams must decide where to put their 10 pieces 3.The first turn will be decided by the flip of the coin 4.The Fifth Person will time each turn, eight minutes max per turn. 5.The winner is decided when half or all enemy forces are defeated 6.A player who rolls one dice to move forward or anywhere he or she sees fit anywhere near the enemy, both must roll two dice each, count the number rolled an even number means the approaching force has been defeated, for instance if both rolls 12 than the person whose army was their first will defeat the other. 7. Each piece represent one of four classes The Rifleman is equipped with a rifle and represent the standard army The Heavy Trooper is the weapons expect it can still fight even if it is the approaching piece this is the only exception to rule number 6, he will stay in one place if defeated once and the enemy can’t get rid of him until the second roll is an even number only then can the heavy trooper be defeated The Paratrooper is lightly equipped and can be only deployed when surrounded and even then you must roll two dice if number is equal to an even number than the paratrooper will be able to knock out two of the attacking forces on the other hand he will be killed if the roll is an odd number and cannot be used again period The Assassin is equipped with a sniper rifle and a knife. The idea of the assassin is to take out key targets and must be used wisely, once in play you must choose a target such as one of the enemy pieces, but it must be from another class, not the same class 8.Each army has the option after one victory to call in reinforcement troops or to capture enemy troops to be replaced with one of their pieces, two or more victories equal to more ground troops or to replace the ones lost 9.When talking with your partner you must chat in one corner while the other team chats among themselves about what to do next
LegoDad42 Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Does the rules really sound like Risk? I though Risk was territory control, over large areas, continents, islands, etc. Die rolls decide causalties, etc. Troop movement, reinforcements and the winner is decided by a # of territories controlled, or a number of capitals? Cards give you bonuses with reinforcements. I like the idea of Lego Risk, but this doesn't really sound like the game at all. The map must be the over a large area with territories to control. This looks limited.
WhiteFang Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I think this seemed to be something similar to LEGO Wargaming. I will move it there, and you might want to update your first post, to share with us your progress. Thanks. WhiteFang
Stash2Sixx Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I also feel this is becoming a LEGO Wargaming topic. Have you actually played RISK Dan? This being the 40th Anniversary Edition, which is a really sweet version, but any version will do. Take a look at the rules and how the game is played. Now you will understand why everyone is saying "go microscale." Now, if you choose to go a wargame route, then by all means, cool. I just don't think, my opinion here, that you should call it "LEGO Risk." Risk is a very popular game and has a strong history, over 40 years as you can see from the version in that picture.
brickme Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Daniel With the tanks it sounds like you want to play my favorite game, axis and allies. However your topic is about risk. Now as said before danny and I discussed this here's what I came up with Stud for soldier and 2x2 slope for cannon Can't figure out cavalry yet.
Daniel Williams Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 OK, I decided to name it Lego Conquest? What you guys think?
The Legonater Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I might join, but I'll be busy witht he Cline Conflict. That and this dosen't seem like the Risk I know.
CMP Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 You should just go and buy a bunch of microfigs. All colors, and small enough for each to take up only one stud.
leggofan Posted August 25, 2010 Posted August 25, 2010 I'd say go micro scale. So you can have large armies on the board, little vehicles, planes, etc. And the board won't be so huge. Love to see how it turns out. totally go micro scale. buy a TON of 4 colors of LEGO micorfigures. will be AWESOME!
Forresto Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 I'm actually attempting at making one in space microscale Lego games style.
dindon Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 Sounds like a great idea ! Reminds me of POWER(http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/487/power), you made me want to build one ;)
Sirius Black Posted August 26, 2010 Posted August 26, 2010 It does seem like this is nothing similar to the board game of risk. The units, and parties (Axis/Allies), that you selected remind me more of Axis and Allies, than risk. Interesting idea though. Sirius
