ImLost Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) UPDATED: New Version Recently, I purchased the 7208 fire station. After I built the set, I quickly dismantled it, because everything in the set is just so unrealistic, especially the fire truck. So I used the set's pieces to built my own fire rescue vehicle, shown here. I have just made my moc 5 studs longer. How does it compare to my first model? lightningtiger Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Let me be the first to say .....................&^%*&& AWESOME !!!!!! Wow, the detail and best of all - the openning roof !!! Man, 'ImLost' you are anything but lost on this one - fantastic design work ! Front end very cool with all those 30deg. slope pieces - sweet ! Keep up the great work and I'm a conformist! 'ImLost' !! Big Cam Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Holy crap, that's awesome. I love the way the whole front canopy opens up, and it really looks like a fire truck, with the taller cab. A huge improvement over the one in the set you pointed out!!! Quote
Rick Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 The cab looks nice. What I don't like about it is the grill tiles that are sticking out too far. Furthermore, ideally you'd want to attach the front to the window, now it leaves a gap on top. The cheese slope technique is pretty nice, JBartosch uses this a lot too. However, in many countries a ladder/engine combination (I think you're suggesting it has a pump, because of the in/outlets on the side of the vehicle) isn't really the most common vehicle. Quote
Henri Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I didn't realy fancy the 7208 firestation, but after seeing this, I might get one anyway. Great job. Henri Quote
ImLost Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 Thanks for the comments, everyone. Rick, I may try to fix the grill-sticking-out-too-much problem but I right now, I don't have the pieces for that adjustment. Also, I had to attach the windshield to the roof because there there was no way to attach it anywhere else (the bricks with the "7208 sticker" are not standard 1x4's. They are those "L" shaped ones with no studs on top. I chose an engine/ ladder combo because I don't have enough resources to make a traditional engine or ladder, at least not one that looks good. But that may change once I get more pieces! Henri, I have to admit that 7208 is a really crappy set, even though there are some useful pieces. It's really not worth getting. The only reason I got it was because the shelves at my local Target were empty (except this set) and I had a serious craving for LEGO! Btw, my MOC doesn't only use pieces from 7208. I had to order some stuff from pick-a-brick as well. Quote
ImLost Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) I just modified my MOC fire engine and made it 5 studs longer to accomodate storage lockers and outtriggers. See first post for images. Edited January 31, 2010 by ImLost Quote
