lightningtiger Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Thanks 'ACCURATEin' for your comments - I glad you and everyone else like my stickers ! I should be doing somemore for the hardware store as well as a few other buildings real soon ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 I have made a few little changes, plus I thought I'll show you the ceiling of the hardware store too ! Since pumps are now sold at the tractor dealership, the hardware store owner decided power tools could take it's place, there is a kid waiting for the store to open so he can get batteries for his torch (he's going to a sleepover). Yep, here's the ceiling - two big downlights and a big white air con. unit which goes above the front door. Now the store is topless ! Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 10, 2010 Author Posted May 10, 2010 Updated images for all of you ! What do you all think of floor tiling eh ? Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Quick little update - I decided to change some of the merchandise on display..... Hinges, barrel bolts, brackets, etc, hey what's a hardware store with out them eh ? Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 Today I've added an entrance to the garden centre also useful for deliveries to the store ! Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 A question - should I have plants and other garden merchandise inside and out the front of this green walled/gate section ? If so what ? Any suggestions ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Fires-storm Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Well done indeed! I really like the layout, and the stickers are the icing on the cake to be sure. It looks like it would be a very functional store that would go great in any town! Excellent job mate, and keep bricking! Quote
BrickClick Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 Great work LightningTiger! I love the tiles A question - should I have plants and other garden merchandise inside and out the front of this green walled/gate section ? If so what ? Any suggestions ? I'm a conformist! ! Flowers, And maybe a few of those stems off the flowers stacked on top of each other to make some kind of plant. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 Thanks 'BrickClick' and 'Fires-storm' for your kind comments. Yep, I'll look at designing potted flowers today and display them inside and outside the greenery section. Posting fresh a.s.a.p........I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 I'm still working on the plants for the garden centre, but I wonder if I should do something like this as well or will it be too much ? and this.... I'm seriously looking at changing the dark bluey grey roof to the Mitre 10 blue colour. What do you all think ? Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 (edited) Now I want to make some changes, now does anything from the previous post or the following look interesting or do I just keep it all the same ? Go with this kind of frontage or leave it as is or a different front roof above the doorway ? Comments and feedback very welcome. A large 32x16 MOC will be untaken shortly......three clue's......rural, arrow and Dayton Hudson Corp. - any ideas what I'm planning ? (don't worry a new old school hotel is also on the drawing board so to speak) I'm a conformist! ! Edited July 31, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
Fires-storm Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I honestly think that it looks pretty nice as is, though it is ultimately up to the builder as to what will finish his creation! Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Thank you 'Fire-storm' for your advice. Here's what's going to happen - garden centre will get finished and the roof changed to blue plates......then that's it and posting fresh pictures tomorrow ! Ha, doesn't anyone what to guess what's my next building ? (clues in my last post) I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Redcross Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Lightningtiger perhaps you could add a motor for that sliding entry it looks pretty heavy for a minifig, maybe a doorbell/ intercom. Also you could add yellow tiles to the sidewalk to warn pedestrians of potential traffic. It's looking good, you have certainly developed your own style, keep up the good work. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Thanks 'Redcross' for your advice too, yellow lines eh ? okay I'll do it. But to gear that gate for it to open and close would make it too bulky and unrealistic. When I take fresh photos I'll try and remember to photograph the gate slide and then you'll see the problem......but if anyone can then suggest anything for an assisted sliding gate I'll take the ideas on board. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
jonwil Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Doesn't have to be an actual motor, just parts to make it LOOK like there is a small motor. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Good point 'jonwil' and thanks for the comment - I guess it can do just a motor box, but most gates have been heavy sticky old pull across rust tracks to close type gates. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Redcross Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I had not actually meant a real motor or gear, however have you seen the sliding door mechanism on the battle for endor set. Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 I had not actually meant a real motor or gear, however have you seen the sliding door mechanism on the battle for endor set. I'll have to check my Battle of Endor bunker, but if you look closely at my gate design there is NO top slide bar, it all works along the bottom and being a little tight stops the gate from falling over ! Picked up fresh parts today from Toy Corner so I can pretty up the front of the garden centre - posting pictures a.s.a.p. ! Thanks again the suggestion 'Redcross' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 As I promised...... A different angle shot..... Close up of the garden centre gate (note - I still have to find white flowers for the stand)... Still might have some finishing touches to go, note the dark bluey grey can not be seen from the front anymore. Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! everyone ! Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 (edited) Aaaaaaaaaah! It's BEAUTIFUL! I used to work at a little neighborhood hardware store. oh i am filled with nostagia. I'd like to see an electrical section and a little bit o' lumber. maybe a key machine. ooh ooh, buckets of paint and a mixer. yaaaa I love it. edit: bags of concrete. wheelbarrows. shop vacs. air conditioner filters. saws. Edited August 1, 2010 by SpiderSpaceman Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 Thanks for the comments and suggestions 'SpiderSpaceman' - a paint mixer eh ? Shop vac's eh ? Hmmm...let me think about it and try a few tricks in LDD first - I gotta make it look real in minifig scale ! Again thank you 'SpiderSpaceman' and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 Another update.....this store now sells fishing tackle...... Comments welcome as always.......so I'm a conformist! ! Quote
