lightningtiger Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Okay since I started building my town I have been changing quite a few things, like now the hardware store. Now first it is still W.I.P. okay, so the roof is next followed by some external construction on the swiss cheese down one side. I'm still working out the new roof arrangement at the moment, will post more pictures when the roof is on. Comments very welcome. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Big Cam Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Very simple yet effective, I like the interior. The exterior is a bit plain but I understand it's supposed to just be a wall of windows. Have you thought of using any color for the interior, instead of just white? Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 Thanks to Big Cam making some suguestions, here we go again............... What do think so far ? I have chosen Mitre 10 colours and have downloaded a logo from their website. Comments welcome. Quote
Big Cam Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I'm torn, it loks a bit bright, but then again I really like that blue. I say it's a win. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 Thank you 'Big Cam' for your feedback. Here is a country Mitre 10 in my home state of South Australia. Yeah, lot of white and even heaps more blue. Lucky me have an actual download logo I can use from their website - sweet ! Roof next - need 4x14 and 6x14 plates plus stuff for roof vents, air con, and lighting to hang from the roof itself. Posting A.S.A.P. Quote
sebby Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I like the look of this and I like the use of Technic pins to hold the tools. Just 1 question what is that in the front window to the left of the door ??? Quote

If you are talking about the device with pressure gauge on and a motor backend with what appears to be hose like fittings, one would say water pump for the farm (it's a country hardware store). The roof will be going on tomorrow and hopefully I'll have some signage on too ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 I'm getting closer to finishing it.......only signage to go now ! New Mannum's Mitre 10 Hardware Store Homewares, lawn mowers and water pumps on display. Side storage of water pipes. Interior view (flash worked for a change) - note the two large down lights, the white air con unit and all the stock displayed. (they are waiting on fresh stock of ax's and gate hardware (that's comming soon). Stickering will be done A.S.A.P. Comments very welcome. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
ImLost Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Your latest version looks great! I'm a big fan of tiled floors and I think what your MOC will really benefit from that. Also, the real-life store photo had a green stripe in the middle. I think that would look good for your model as well. Your new interior looks very good with a nice variety of products on display. But I suggest you find a way to cover or get rid of the unused technic holes that are visible on your wall. Overall, well done. Quote
Zorbas Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 (edited) Great work lightningtiger! The details in the interior are great, not to mention the number of them! Excellent! The whole design gives me the impression of an actual official set to be honest. Keep on tooling! Edited January 31, 2010 by Zorbas Quote

Actually not all have this green strip but this ones pretty close colouring like mine.............. I might also just cover up those holes not used. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 Yep, the printer really does a good job eh ? What do you all think ? Comments very welcome ! I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Big Cam Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 OMG, the stickers really add to this, it just keeps getting better and better. I love the improvements. Quote
BlueBard Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 the printer did a wonderful work, indeed! Great job lightningtiger Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 Thank you 'Big Cam' and 'Bluebard' for your kind comments. I'm now in the design phase for an ANZ bank and a Telstra payphone (that's going to sit between the post office and this Mitre 10 store, I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Admiral Ron Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Looks great! I cant wait to see the roof on it, are you going to tile the floors like the stereotypical hardware store? Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 Looks great! I cant wait to see the roof on it, are you going to tile the floors like the stereotypical hardware store? Thank you for the kind comment 'Admiral Ron'. I'm afraid to point out - the roof is there (note - air con and large downlights inside) and no tiling of the floor, that would not make rearranging things inside that easy. A modular CC-style hardware store is in the future so it can sit next to my Green Grocer building, that will have a tiled floor. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
jonwil Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Nice job on the Mitre 10, especially the stickers (I wish I had been able to do some stickers for the Bunnings Warehouse I made a while back) Quote
sebby Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Looking good mate. To my eyes it looks like there is a white border on some of your stickers. If it just the thickness of the stickers showing, get a felt tip that closely matches the color and run it around the edge not on the printed face. This eliminates the white edge that shows. Quote
GC8Monkey Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Getting to your hardware store thread a little late, however it allowed me to see the evolution of your store. As soon as you added the stickers it really brought it to life. It really "feels" like a country hardware store and it has a great selection too. I like how you broke up the front window displays with the plates and glasses. Great MOC! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Thank you 'Jonwil', 'Sebby' and 'GC8monkey' for your kind comments. It was a challenge set by 'Big Cam' to add more colour that is sending all my MOC'd down under. Next build with be a Mensland store which are very common in Australian country town, well the farmer has to buy pants and suit from some where. I'm a conformist! ! Quote

I'm serious, you are the sticker king, I just put it together that all these cool MOC's with stickers are all from you. I love the new pics Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 5, 2010 Author Posted February 5, 2010 Another huge thank you to you 'Big Cam', thanks for the really cool feedback. It's amazing what one big and four little stickers can do to a building, like I've said before a picture speaks a thousand words. I'm a conformist! ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Just a little update.....I put some extra stock in.......but the customer service is a let down ! Comments welcome and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
ACCURATEin Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Oh this is turning out to be fabulous. I love all the stickers. Quote
