ImLost Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Hi everyone. Some time ago, I moc'd a flatbed truck. Although I was happy with it, I felt it still looked too much like the trucks TLG makes. I wanted my vehicle to be unique so I decided to wreck the flatbed and go for a more original design. It led me to making something I never thought I'd make- an 8-wide tractor unit. Here it is, sadly without a trailer :( Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Not bad go at a 8 wide prime mover 'ImLost' ! But I will say I'm not sure about about that inverted windscreen though. Anyway very well detailed, good work and I'm a conformist! ! Quote
samurai-turtle Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 I do suggest, extend the roof out a little to cover the front window top, I am seeing a gap in it. Quote
sens1992 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I really like your tractor. 8 wide is great and makes it look rough. I am not sure about the windshield but the rest looks good! Good job Quote

dr_spock Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 That's a pretty big tractor. Has a bit of a Mammoet Titan feel? I guess with the inverted windshield, you can look down on the lesser vehicles. Quote
ImLost Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 Thanks for the replies, everyone. It seems the inverted windshield is not getting much of a fanbase, even though ironically, it is my favorite feature of the truck. As for adding a piece to cover the entire top of the windscreen, I just don't have the resources for that right now. But hopefully, I can address that problem in the near future, although I have a feeling this truck won't stay intact for long before its pieces are used for another vehicle. Quote
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Great thing! I don't see them 8 studs wide trucks this often. Why does TLC keep producing trucks at the size of 6 studs wide anyway? Keep it coming! Quote

When I first saw it I have to tell you I didn't really like that window either. However, looking at it again today I changed my mind somewhat. It really doesn't look like a regular tractor unit you'd see on the road somewhere. They don't have windscreens like this and IMO it looks far too big for that (I think that most of LEGO's own trucks are just about the right size). However, I could imagine something like this working in the logging or oil industry or in construction. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've got a picture of something not all that dissimilar in a book somewhere. Cheers, Ralph Quote
