Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Well, Kongu is close enough. Nah, I kid. I guess its cause Karzahni was released as a SE set, which usually has no new parts (only recolours). -ZotS Quote

Legorski Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I think the best Kanohi is the Pehuki.... -ZotS I Object! Kakama was and will be the coolest! XD Quote
Aanchir Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Bones-eye-eye-eye's ideas of style involve sharp edges, thin lines, and sucking all the fun out of the masks. Just look at his Calix, it looks nothing like it should. Just because he likes them and calls them cool, doesn't mean it should matter to the rest of us. Especially when it's a master of vague-arities like Bones-ay-ay-captain. As much as I respect Bonesiii, I agree-- his "coolified" (or in the case of the Inika, "normalfied") masks never really impressed me. Ruthless elegance may be a worthwhile design consideration, but applying it to everything without question renders it meaningless. I much prefer the sort of distinctions regular masks have. I've been a fan of Kanohi designs from the start-- which from-the-start fan among us didn't spend their free time doodling custom mask designs in the early years? I don't think mask designs have gotten worse, though-- I'm just as fond of the new Nuva masks as I was of the old ones (perhaps more, since it practically took until 2008 for me to appreciate the awkward, organic textures of the original Kanohi Nuva). I also liked the Inika masks, which rather than being organic-looking (with the exception of the Iden and Suletu) gave me the same impression as the Kanohi from the first three BIONICLE movies, with their full coverage of the head, flexibility, mouths, and large, bulbuous eyes. I was and remain a fan of the Calix and Elda in particular. The 2008 Makuta masks really amazed me with how well they expanded on a category in which we'd only seen one mask (although admittedly, we saw that one mask in an assortment of forms). The unusual attachment method of the Mistika Makuta masks didn't bother me, but rather reminded me of the Ultimate Dume Kraahkan and, for that matter, the original Kraahkan, which under normal circumstances did not attach in the way a Toa mask would. The fact that blendiness was practically standard on these masks also made for a nice contrast with typical Kanohi. That's all that's on my mind right now. Feels good to ramble occasionally without trying to drive home any particular point. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Actually, Pehuki was sarcasm because it looks exactly like a Kiril. I didn't like how they treated it like an entirely new mask... My real favourite mask (power-wise) is the mask of Time, the Vahi. If only it was used well... -ZotS Quote

Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 It is Pehkui.-Omi My bad. Still, that mask has a pretty nice mask power... -ZotS Quote

Miru by far. My drawings (at least those I remember) were a few with custom powers, as well as Nuva versions of the Turaga's noble Kanohi. Pretty lame stuff in general. But I'd probably post them if given the chance. Quote
Delta 38 Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I loved the original Toa and Turaga Kanohi, but after that the masks went downhill. The originals are always best! 8D I agree with the first masks (and possibly a few after that) being good. A few years ago, I dug up and rebuilt my old Toa (Mata). Now, I'm wishing I got more mask packs while there were still some in shops, because I want each of the Toa's masks in the six main colours. Too late for that, I guess... My favourite mask, though, is probably the Pakari mask. Quote
Andeh Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I've always chosen the Ruru to be my favourite mask. It just looks cool, reminds me of Darth Vader. Quote
