Deinonychus Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread...?threadid=57855 This is the best SW news since I head Episode III had finished post-production before some inexplicable accident possibly killed George Lucas... And personally, this is right up my alley. Over the past 15 or so years that the Expanded Universe has existed, I've always felt that most stores are too penned in by the characters and situations revolving around the "Anakin Skywalker family" and he "Heroes of Yavin" The stuff I've always enjoyed the most are stories that take place thousands of years before the movies (like the Knights of the Old Republic stuff) or stories using minor side characters like Wedge Antilles or Boba Fett. The Star Wars universe is a wonderful and rich field for storytelling...but the continued need to include Obi-Wan, Anakin, Luke, Leia, and Han has really ground creativity to a halt in a lot of cases. Placing a story in a time where all those characters should be dead is just the kind of thing the EU needs right now. Dark Horse has made my year Quote
tophdawg Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 i cant wait this may possibly be the bst EU thing since Crimson Empire in my opinion Quote
TheBlackDog Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 And Issue #0 is only 25 cents! Great deal. Quote
Starwars4J Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 This is the WORST thing that could have happened to Star Wars if you ask me. Now no matter what happens in the EU (unless the comics get the "Infinities" stamp, which I hope), you will KNOW how the universe turns out. This is also just a collaboration of the most popular things from the movies and EU (coming up with very little of their own), such as the Skywalker family, the ship "Mynock", which has already been used before..., the Mandalorians, Darth Maul (look at the female sith), and totally spits in the face of the whole "prophecy" which is what the whole PT (and consequently the OT) was about in the first place! The sith were supposed to be extinguished for good by the "chosen one", and they were. The very last sith died out when Palpatine hit the reactor. meh, I could rant for hours, but that's really why there are threads on this in the Star Wars board on GameFAQs... Quote
snefroe Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 hm... so this is yet another spin off of the sw-world? it has nothing to do with the upcoming tv series, right? Quote

If you don't like it, don't buy it. This isn't going to change the movies or anything. Personally, I think this is one of the best EU Comic Series since the "Clone Wars" issues of Republic. Quote
MattZitron Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 http://www.newsarama.com/forums/showthread...?threadid=58816 New stuff about it. I'm excited to see where this goes!! Its just like when Dark Horse started Tales of the Jedi. At that point we had no prequels and it gave us an insight into the other end of the StarWars Universe. Quote
tophdawg Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 the only bad thing about this is it means my recently purchased new essential chronology will soon be out of date Quote
