Optimus Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I made this yesterday after a couple hours of building. I'm pretty satisfied with the result. I used the Blacktron II color scheme. The ship is equipped with an armament of 20 ship-to-ship missiles as well as 4 kinetic energy cannons. The name is rather uninspired, but the best I could come up with. Questions and comments welcome. It started off looking like this, then I decided to take it apart and start again because I was unhappy with the result as it looked more like a submarine than a spaceship. I pretty much redid the entire thing aside from the basic structure which everything branches out from. Rest of the pictures: Flickr Quote
Hound Knight Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Excellent MOC! I love the engines and the things sticking out the front. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Excellent 'Optimus' ! Love the engines - power to escape when needed. The weapons - punch with 4 plasmas or missile lauchers which can rotate to fire on the opposition - cool ! White - cool too ! I agree a spaceship shouldn't look like a submarine ! Great work 'Optimus' - I'm a conformist! !!! Quote
Clone OPatra Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Looks like somebody had the Discovery Space Shuttle! Your spaceship looks very good. Though I think it is a bit big for a fighter, it makes a very well-armed transport-type vehicle. The reason it doesn't look like a fighter to me is because it is so long and bulky, but length and bulk are great for transporters. Does it have an interior? Quote

Yeah, it is a little big for a fighter , unfortunately the way I constructed it made it impossible for an interior. Everything is attached to a section only 4 studs wide so it's pretty much impossible to fit an interior anyways. Thanks for your comments guys! Quote
Legostein Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Hello! These are two great looking ships in a nice colour scheme. The guns and engines are very detailed. I have also two suggestions. The landing gear for the bigger vessel looks a bit too narrow. A ship that massive would need it wider for a stable stand. And as a minor suggestion, you mixed-up port and starboard. The right side (starboard) should have the green light, and the left side (port) should have the red one. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote

The landing gear is actually very stable and holds the ship up quite well. I never knew that the red and green lights designated port and starboard, but it's good to know! Quote
