Hello!

It looks like a speedy car indeed! The grille slopes work out nicely here. :classic: Only the side mirrors look a bit unfinsihed. Have you had a look at it when attaching a flat silver or pearl silver or similar 1x1 round plate? It might look more authentic.

Cheers,

Looking good. I can see that it´s inspired by 8402 as well.

I see you have a thing for building car MOCs. Have you ever tried building a 5-wide one? They look incredibly realistic, are really fun to build etc, etc. The only downside is that it reequires alot of small plates, jumper plates and cheese slopes.

If you want to try it out, you could always check out either my BrickShelf folder, or if you want to check out the 5-wide car master builder, check out Ralph_S´creations (his FlickR name is MadPsyhicist).

Thanks 'Dennimator' and 'Legostein' for your comments.

First - I'll try 1x1 silver look round plates and fit them on the rear side of the headlight plates.

Second - No I have not thought of doing a 5 wide car - might think about - although I like my cars 4 wide and trucks/vans 6 wide - hey thats just me I guess

I'll repost with the mirrors complete hopefully tomorrow.

I'm a conformist! !!!

New Mannum has a new patrol car for it's police station to send out to chase crazy sports car and small car drivers.

Yep I put a dashboard in this car too !

Comments very welcome.

There is a thing that bothers me about this and about most of the cars that LEGO make as sets. The body might be four wide, but overall, including the wheels and fenders it's actually six and LEGO's trucks are 7 wide. The wheels on a real car don't stick out of the fenders and the fenders only stick out a little bit, if at all. Also, the wheels are the same size as those used on trucks.

This is a nice combination of features of different sets, which probably means it fits quite nicely with official sets, but if you want to build a somewhat more realistic looking minifig scale car I'd suggest trying something a bit different. I indeed do go for five studs wide (body and wheels), even though it makes the construction quite a bit more complicated and uses more parts.

Cheers,

Ralph
