UsernameMDM Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 (edited) Here is my first completed attempt at making a ship. I've always loved the Renegade Runner and so wanted to make a small ship like it. I am not completely satisfied with the deck and rear components. I used only the pieces I had available on hand and resisted a bricklink shopping spree. Ship features a single cannon and two swivel guns, cargo, captains quarters/supply locker. Please comment and critique: Edited January 11, 2010 by UsernameMDM Quote
Admiral Ron Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Great ship, I love the shape of it and especially the color scheme, good work! Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 I like it and I am really impressed with how much you did with it withough adding even a single midsection to it. The swivel gun is great and I really like the stern and the cabin. Really very impressive for such a small ship. Quote
Zorro Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Looks very good indeed! I love the chosen colours and the swivel gun, as well as the entire front of the ship. The cabin is very detailed too. One question though: Can you please resize the pics? They are larger then allowed by the Site Guidelines. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Your first attempt to build a ship? That looks so much better then my first one! It's details are amazing, only on 2 hull sections! That is impressive. Perhaps adding sails would add even more realism to it. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 It's such a small ship, but it has everything a ship needs (except sails ofcourse ) cabin, cannon, lanterns, figurehead...well, you see what I mean For a first ship, this is certainly not bad, and I like the long bowsprit! Quote
Ryan_T Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I love it! I'd call it the Blackish-green pearl! As others have said, You really packed a lot of detail in such a small ship! Good job! Blackmoor! Get this lad some Rum! an' aye! It better be rum. None of yarr silly little tricks! Ye had me barfin' after that junk ye gave me! Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Nice MOC! Like other have said, what a brilliant amount of detail on such a small hull! I can't say the rigging does much for me, would be better with string I think. I do like your badass swivel cannons though, I wouldn't even want my 28-gun frigate getting in the way of those things! Great job for a first ship MOC, keep it up. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Well blow me down, what a great pirate ship indeed ! 'UsernameMDM' great design, love lots of detail in any MOC. The cabin storing maps and muskets looks fantastic. Only one cannon, well make every shot count ! Keep up the great work 'UsernameMDM' ! Quote
Big Cam Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Interesting color, the ship (to me) is a bit small, but I love all your detail and the trans yellow fig heads are cool, I'm not sure if I have seen them before. It must be pretty fast with only one cannon. Great work. Quote
Aquila D'oro Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 If lego released more smaller vessels like that i'd buy them in a heart beat, the Renegade Runner and Cross Bone Clipper can eat their own hearts out! fantastic colours and design with loads of lovely details - Very impressive Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I like the little ships but the problem with them is that they didn't come with a single mid section. I would have loved them a whole lot more if they had as you could have bought multiples and lengthened the ship. Quote
Jack Bricker Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 You did an absolutly terrific job in my opinion. I like the color scheme and the shape of the hull. I was really interested how you were able to fit a captains cabin in the stern without adding in midsections. Again, thats a great pirate ship you built there. Quote
martinsuper Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I dont know how I missed this, but this is very very cool! I enjoy the small detail you used throughout the ship without it looking gaudy. I am very impressed! Keep up the good work! -martinsuper Quote
UsernameMDM Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 Thanks for the comments everyone. I've decided to make a few changes, namely switch the front swivel gun to a smaller triple barrel swivel gun and change the deck swivel gun into a same size deck cannon to add a bit more fire power. Also changing up the deck and perhaps adding walking space on the side of the ships. I will hopefully post updated pics soon. :pir-skull: Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 That ship rocks, and I love the color scheme. I like the small details you fit in! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
brickme Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 This looks very nice for a first go. I personally have not made a ship yet but maybe soon... Quote
Fires-storm Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 This ship is amazing, I love all the small details you put in, the captains cabin is beautiful, and I truly love the skeleton figure head! I think I'm going to try my hand at a small ship next perhaps, but maybe my schooner comes first^^" Quote
Blackheart Brit Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 I love those black and green hulls. I wish I had a mid section black hull to expand mine. I like the whole color scheme as well, really good ship. Quote
the_green_avenger Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Great ship Its nice to see a new color sceme for a change Very well detailed for the fact that its so small I myself am a fan of quality, and this ship is loaded with it. Quote
MetroiD Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) Small ships really deserve to get more attention - after all, the seas were not only full of frigates and galleons back in those days :) I really enjoy seeing Sloops, Junks and the likes - and this is probably one of the best little ships I have seen.
