Oky Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Greetings! I am Oky Wan Kenobi. I come in peace. To celebrate the release of the Toy Story sets, I am planning to create a series of Star Command MOCs, most of which will be based on the cartoon Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. If you haven't seen it, it's a great show with lots of references to SW and other great sci-fi works. Anyway, I thought I'd start by making a fast car for my sigfig. I call it the Okymobile! With this lean, mean, racing machine, Star Command will have no trouble keeping up with the evil emperor Zurg. Just look at them big ol' tires and exhausts! If you would see this in real life, you'd be flat as a space pancake in the next second : My sigfig approves. And now that he's out, we can take a look inside. This MOC was loosely based on this Disney Racers Diecast: Hi-res pics can be found in this brickshelf folder. Here are some ideas I have for future Star Command MOCs: Off-road buggy Troop transport (a large six-wheeled vehicle that resembles the Clone Turbo Tank from Star Wars) Space cycle Speedboat Zurgmobile (0:44)Construct-a-XR Star Command Training Deck (skip to 3:11) Star Command Science Bay (skip to 1:25) Zurg's Dreadnought and Team Lightyear's Star Command cruiser 42 Zurg Tower (skip to 9:02) The buggy will be up next. I probably wont make all of these, but I'll try to make most of them. I added a poll so that you can tell me which one(s) you think I should do next. If you have any ideas of your own, please tell me, and I'll be glad to add them to the poll. Thanks. To the Okymobile! Edited January 12, 2010 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
sok117 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I look forward to seeing these in the future, I voted for a Zurg Mech, not only because I think it would be really cool, but because It might be hard to get all that purple. Anyway nice job on the buggy and keep up the good work. P.S. is Okymobile a puul back vehicle? Quote
Batbrick Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 It's more beautiful than I ever imagined! So glad you accepted my challenge (I think it was mine anyway) Oky, and my what a fabulous vehicle you've constructed! The use of the bubble cockpit really works, and the massive flames at the back are wonderful! Excellent use of colour too, I wouldn't change anything myself. I voted for Zurg mech, I can see something really cool coming from that. Batbrick Away! Quote
prateek Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Awesome dragster looking car thing The bubble dome looks good on this Quote
Reaper052 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I love this show, and am so excited to see what sorts of Mocs youre going to build from it. I've been thinking that if I get the Constructa-Zurg, that I will use the pieces to build a base shaped like Zurgs mask. I seem to remember something like that in the show, but I'm not sure. I also really like how you used buzz's wings in the front, I never would have thought of that! Reaper052 :skull: Quote
The Who Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Nice MOC. This actually looks really good. If you say it is loosely based off of that car, I think you did a really good job of getting that general shape and adding your personal creativity in it. I think I actually got that diecast car when it was in stores... Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 Eat burning rubber Zurg !!!! Great MOC 'Oky Wan Kenobi', sweet looking dragster ! Mean looking too with those fat tyres on the rear and jacked up nice and high at the rear - COOL ! 'Please sir I want some more !' Oliver - Oliver Twist. Quote
Gamer Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 This is the best looking car made out of Lego, you should make a poll comic you and your car against Schumacker. Gamer. Quote
Big Cam Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Very accurate, especially for being minifig scale. I would have been impressed if a minifig did not fit inside. Great job! Quote
Oky Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) Thanks for all the comments. I'm especially glad you liked it, Batbrick. is Okymobile a puul back vehicle? No. In fact, the large wheels can't even turn separately. Sorry I forgot to add a bottom view. I suppose I could have made it a pull-back vehicle, but I'm not a big fan of those. I love this show, and am so excited to see what sorts of Mocs youre going to build from it. I've been thinking that if I get the Constructa-Zurg, that I will use the pieces to build a base shaped like Zurgs mask. I seem to remember something like that in the show, but I'm not sure. Glad to see another fan of the show. I'd be very interested to see your MOC. I personally wouldn't really know how to make a giant Zurg head out of those pieces. FYI, Zurg Tower as seen in the cartoon doesn't really look like his head though. You can see it at 9:02 in this video. I might make Zurg Tower as well. I'll add it to the poll. Eat burning rubber Zurg !!!! Indeed! This is the best looking car made out of Lego, you should make a poll comic you and your car against Schumacker.Gamer. Funny idea. But I'd rather MOC a Zurgmobile and make a comic or something with that. That reminds me, I forgot to add that one to the list. I'll add it right away. Very accurate, especially for being minifig scale. I would have been impressed if a minifig did not fit inside. You would? Why? Looks like there is a high demand for Zurg MOCs. I guess I'll make the mechs next. Keep the advice on future MOCs coming guys! Edited January 12, 2010 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Zorro Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 The Okymobile! Funny name for a good looking MOC, great use of the new Toy Story/Disney parts. And it looks a lot like that provided Diecast model . Quote
clubpenguin Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Mean looking too with those fat tyres on the rear and jacked up nice and high at the rear - COOL ! 'Please sir I want some more !' double that's what she said Quote
