There have been rumors for years about Tim Burton making an Alice in wonderland movie but when my cousin went to see avatar he said the best part was the Alice in wonderland commercial then I found these trailers for it on youtube.

Oh and also keep your eyes peeled for the Jabberwock at 1:41 in the second video. :sweet:

I've seen this trailer at least 20 times. I'm so going to this film! I'm a huge Tim Burton fan, I love Johny Depp and I am a sucker for HBC! WOW

Edit:

I added some pictures of LEGO Alice in Wonderland to show how nice these two go together:

I do like Tim Burton and his films but...Why do they keep letting him do this stuff?

I mean, Its ok with animation but why real life films?

You all realise that this is going to turn out like Sweeney Todd, Nothing like he would have looked like and a new scene kid look, all dressed in black, Pale with black and white hair?

Now I'm not saying these are bad movies, I love them but the ones derived from books and storys are kind of ruined by all the dark "emo-ish" colours and curls. I mean you look in any Goth or Emo's room and I guarantee you will see something with Nightmare Before Christmas.

Edward Scissor hands made Leather and Chains and pale with long hair sexy. Well so they say, But if I saw a girl with curly black hair and pale...I'd probably stare.

I can't understand why he hasn't made Jack the Ripper yet?! It would be perfect for him.

But the real problem is half of those Emos don't even know it's a movie!

Alice in Wonderland is one of my least favorite Disney movies, and I have never liked any of the other adaptions, but this one looks promising. I'm no emo guy, but I like Burton's work, and this movie certainly seems to have his signature style. I especially like the Cheshire Cat. The Mad Hatter is a perfect role for Depp as well. This is definitely on my to-watch list for this year. But I still think it would have been more entertaining if he would have made something more in the style of American McGee's Alice instead of an adaption of the original book.

I thought the Mad Hatter would better fit Jim Carrey. He would just do it good.

Wow I didn't know you were one to like that video game Oky it's a pretty fun game. :look: But if you saw the trailer you would notice the stories are similar except in Tim's movie Alice isn't a psychopathic

Killer. But I completely disagree about the other thing I for one loved those books and everybody in my imidiate family likes it so I guess it runs in my family. And I agree with Joey, Depp isn't silly enough for the role.

:EDIT: Joey Depp isn't really an actor or an EB user.

Yeah, I guess he could play more mad than Depp can, but I can imagine that Depp can make it work if he mixes Willy Wonka with Jack Sparrow.

I've never played it actually, only seen trailers and stuff, but I like the idea of a dark and gritty Alice sequel.

Who's Joey Depp? (Punctuation Fail)

I remember seeing posters for all the characters over the summer. This movie looks great! I plan to go opening day and see it in D.

I agree that American McGee's version would have been more entertaining as well as more "fitting" for an "Alice in Wonderland" movie. Even when i was little i always saw Alice and wonderland as being a bit...Out there. One has to wonder how Alice didn't go syhco dealing with chasing a rabbit, babbling fat twins, and skitsofrentic cat and a 'Mad Hatter".

I love how they made the Cheshire Cat so tiger-like! Just listen to that roar! :cry_happy: I'm not seeing the Jabberwock. Can I have a screenshot of it, it is in my sig afterall.

EDIT: I was watching the wrong video. The Cheshire Cat wasn't that lion thing... And I saw the Jabberwock! Stunning! The Cheshire Cat in it's top hat is so cute.

I got a screenshot of it:

I am not a big Tim Burton fan, but I might go and see this movie. It definitely looks kind of creepy, and the filming and CGI style looks a little too out-there for me. Still, I might have to see it.

I think you have the wrong impression of this movie, plokoon512. :sceptic: This is not an adaption of the book (there are too many of those already), but rather some sort of sequel to it. Watch the trailer again and you'll see what I mean.

Some information you might all like to know: It is based off both books, Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass. Even the Disney film mixed elements of the two.

I am glad that they have more of the characters turn up but I hope it doesn't turn into The Mad Hatter Movie due to the casting. Don't get me wrong, I love Burton's asthetic (I'm one of those goth chicks you seem to dislike) and slight squew from normality he gives his films, but recently his they just seem to be an excuse to cast his nearest and dearest and have his buddy cavort around as a characture of some sort. It still looks(i.e pleasing to the eyes) good though even if it ends up being terrible.

I am looking forward to his big screen revisioning of Franeknweenie though

I intend to go see this. It looks very interesting, and I'm generally a fan of Burton's work (except Willy Wonka and Sweeney Todd, both of which he butchered). The premise reminds me a bit of "The Looking Glass Wars", but I think that it'll be different enough from the book to be, well, different.

Me too! Love the original, and Burton's stop motion.

Well, I found Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was much closer to the book (In fact Rhald Dhal couldn't abide the mess that the first, misnamed, film was) and rather enjoyed it.

It's just fingers crossed for Alice in Wonderland.

I went to see this movie on Saturday, and it was quite okay. The last third of it kind of spoiled the whole idea by turning a "dreamquest" into a clichéd battle of good and evil.

Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat played by Stephen Fry were definitely the best characters in the whole movie. The girl playing Alice was nice enough, if a bit dull for such an anarchistic female role.

So yeah, the film was full of great actors and the quality of the computer generated backgrounds were stunning, but something felt missing. It just wasn't crazy enough, even with all the crazy characters in it.

I had high expectations, seeing as I like most of the movies that Tim Burton has made. Fair enough, he might be a tad bit too emo-ish, but that always gives his flicks that extra bit of atmosphere that all the other movies in this genre manage to miss while trying too hard. This time around though, I was definitely disappointed.

We all love Depp, that's a given (not Joey... although, come to think of it, in fact, we also love Joey - and Chandler too?). But after seeing "The Imaginarium...", I think he's been doing a bit too much of the same lately, and every movie he does is generally a repetition of the same looney character. Different traits, but essentially the same guy - so that you know just what to expect from any movie featuring Johnny Depp by now.

What I didn't like about Alice in Wonderland itself actually had nothing to do with Johnny Depp though. I didn't enjoy Mia Wasikowska's portrayal Alice at all - she was way too dull and downright boring, especially around the perfectly stupid white queen or the ludicrous red queen, which by the way was a weird but rather successful combination between the Red Queen and the Queen of Hearts - two different characters from the Alice books... Luckily, Stephen "Cheshire" Fry was able to fix that whenever he made an appearance. I was particularly unhappy about the weird kind of relationship Tim Burton seemed to try to create between Alice and the Hatter though - I thought that was pretty unnecessary. Yes, Depp is lovable and every character he plays ends up twisted in a weird love story, but... Alice and the Hatter?! Come on, I mean... not even if it was a weird father-daughter relationship was that OK. If the Hatter had such a major role to play, then the White Rabbit might as well have ended up playing the Hero.

The ending seemed pretty made up - in a bad way - and/or stolen from similar stories (Wizard of Oz, anyone?), and the whole 3D thing was absolutely unnecessary. In no way did I at any point feel that I was actually enjoying the 3D experience. I do hope this stupid fad of filming every other movie in 3D dies away quickly, because it's just too damn boring/distracting and my eyes hurt like hell!

All in all, I could have avoided Tim Burton's Alice just like I managed to avoid Avatar - and I think I wouldn't have missed anything, despite all the hype. Once again I'm convinced that it's simply better to stick to the actual books when you want true entertainment.

Yeah, Tim Burton is a fun film maker but he's also a king of "not-getting it". I have to admit I laughed at this video satirising him: Tim Burton's secret film formula!

Batbrick Away!
