501st Commando Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Well this is my first modular house. It is a greenery store. It was fun to build, and I plan on building some more modular houses in the future. It does connect to all the other modular houses as well. A veiw of the front. An overveiw. A close up. The back. The inside. A close up of the small pond. The door opens ( playability is always great). Enjoy! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Very nice '501st. Commando', but what's a greenery store - can I assume a garden centre of some sort ? Where's the stock of greenery ? Anyway nice job on the front door built out of clear bricks - cool !!! A few more plants for sale, some spades, brooms and other garden tools would be handy to have for sale in there too. Quote
BlueBard Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Really interesting design, and a nice start in modular fever! Quote
Milan Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I like the front of the building very much, with sloped pieces and trans clear wall! Do you plan to add more plants inside, if so this could become even better MOC! Quote

I just decided to give it a differant name. The plants in the store are the stock. Also on the roof there are plants growing. I will see what I can do about adding plants inside. Quote
Athos Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Its a little boxy and plain. Especially when you compare it to the official modular buildings. You need all kinds of texture and, for lack of a better term, greebles. Its also a bit short. It lacks the architectural grace and style of the Cafe Corner style buildings. It is more suitable to a strip-mall setting. I really don't like the palm fronds. And the 1x1 round plates stuck in the technic bricks really aren't doing it for me. You've got some good elements, like the slopes at the base, but you need more. Steve Quote
Corvus Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 You have a good start here. The glass storefront is a good idea, and I do like the idea of a fountain inside the shop. And I agree with the Smurf- it needs more detail! -Avoid flat surfaces. Take a look on Google (or your preferred choice of search engine) and look up architecture- it might help with ideas for building. -I'd love to see an interior in the shop. A flower/greenery shop has the potential to be eye-catching, vibrant, and detailed on the inside. Instead, you have what appears to be a store that's been foreclosed! -More detail on the roof. A greenery shop would be a good reason to stick a greenhouse or flower garden on top. Quote
