escortmad79 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 I've just bought some baseplates on eBay that I would like to remove some of the printed pattern from. Is there any way of doing this without scratching or damaging the baseplates? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Brasso and a cloth I think there are a lot of topics about removing printing from Lego in the Minifig Customisation Workshop that may help also. Quote
prateek Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Brasso and a cloth I think there are a lot of topics about removing printing from Lego in the Minifig Customisation Workshop that may help also. That's pretty much it, or you can use rubbing alcohol. Quote
escortmad79 Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Excellent, read that about smooth bricks but wasn't sure about road pieces Quote
Steel Dragon Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Excellent, read that about smooth bricks but wasn't sure about road pieces I can see where you could be hesitant, given the rougher texture of a baseplate compared to a tile or the side of a brick. I think if Brasso didn't work, I would try lightly sanding the flat area. I've never done it, though, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Quote
escortmad79 Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Light sanding would scratch the baseplate Quote
David Thomsen Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Indeed... a chemical method is definitely better. Chemicals can tell the difference between ink and plastic... sandpaper can't. Quote
Steel Dragon Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 As I said, I'm new to the idea of removing printing. Excuse my naivete. Quote
