AllanSmith Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Boxing Day sales today , bought Space Police 5972 at 30% off. So using parts from Racers 8121, 8122, 8162, City 7638 and the Space Police 5972 set I modified it into a City truck. enjoy Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I'm impressed - the truck has a very realistic front end and the rest is done in proportion - FANTASTIC ! Only one negative - white cupboards would be better than orange ones - it would then match the rest of the truck with it's white trim. Great job, 'Allensmith'. Quote
AllanSmith Posted December 26, 2009 Author Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) Thanks. Have limited supply of bricks at moment. My 25 year collection of LEGO sets and parts is in storage. Will update model one day Have just ordered some parts from an Australian Bricklink store to update truck Edited December 26, 2009 by AllanSmith Quote
paul_delahaye Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Just ditch the orange cupboards, they look rubbish! Paul P.S. The rest is awsome! Quote
Milan Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Really awesome truck! Front end is magnificent! I like it very much, i agree on cahnging that color, or you could just change the color of the mudguards Really nice truck! Quote
Legostein Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Hello! It's a very nice city truck as it could appear in many city sets and layouts. Very well done, especially regarding the quite limited variety of pieces. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
AllanSmith Posted December 27, 2009 Author Posted December 27, 2009 I have taken on various suggestions. Bought 2 sets of 7635 to get black guards. Have removed lockers. Added rear mud flaps and changed rear lights. Changed colour of top front bumper. Changed position of mirrors to allow for future addition of 3 x 2 black doors. Have uploaded photos of truck with black wheel rims and with grey wheel rims. Please comment on which you think is better. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Very nice 'AllenSmith' very nice indeed ! I feel the grey rims are better, goes with the rest of the vehicle trim in grey too. Minus those trans-amber parts on top of the container - you would have a really cool looking container truck. Keep up the great work ! Quote
AllanSmith Posted December 27, 2009 Author Posted December 27, 2009 Minus those trans-amber parts on top of the container - you would have a really cool looking container truck. Done, amber lights gone. Quote
Rick Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I was waiting with responding in this thread until you had a chance to incorporate suggestions made. But you've made a really cool looking truck now. The nose you designed is a nice break from the 'standard' flat-nose Lego truck. And the black rims and mudguards really look good, given that you have the yellow to avoid it looking too dark overall... Well done! Quote
74louloute Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Very nice truck ! I especially like the radiator grille in front of it. Nevertheless, I prefer the use of white mudguard unstead of black, thus they are more visible. For a total "smooth-look", maybe you can add some yellow tiles on the rear ? Anyway, I really like that truck ! Quote
AllanSmith Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Bricklink parts order arrived so I updated the cab to have doors Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Nice pair, of doors that is - looking good 'AllanSmith' ! Quote
Legoist Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Very nice. I think it's great that you're showing the work in progress and turn suggestions into actual improvements Quote
prateek Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Great job! I llove seeing the progress that /mocs go through Quote
danim Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 stunning looking truck you have there but why is there a torso of a minifig sitting behind the driver Quote
sens1992 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Nice truck! I actually prefer it with gray wheels. This would make for a perfect LEGO set. Great job, great MOC. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I like the one with the black rims. However the back wheels with the white rims look fine, but the front really needs the black rims. Quote
AllanSmith Posted January 12, 2010 Author Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) stunning looking truck you have there but why is there a torso of a minifig sitting behind the driver  Actually its a reflection on the black back of the cab. What looks like the stud for the head is actually a stud on the back window. On the other hand it could be a minifig ghost Edited January 12, 2010 by AllanSmith Quote
MatthewUSA Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 This is a great MOC using the parts from the Space Police set. The yellow cargo area on that set definitely looked like a box cab unit. Great job using that idea into your MOC. Model On!! Quote
AllanSmith Posted January 17, 2010 Author Posted January 17, 2010 Updated truck. Larger exhaust pipes, rear cab window. Changed from box body to container truck. Redesigned rear deck and rear lights. I can now remove yellow container and carry another load. This time it's a derelict car. Front Rear Container off New load Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 10-4 'AllenSmith' your redesigns are getting better and better ! I like this design the most, keep it ! I'm a conformist! !! Quote
