Go Speed Racer!

I am so glad I bought all of the sets, I can have big races with those cars! An excuse to build more 8 wide cars

Exactly what I thought when I saw that red car that looks like Snake Oiler's. This is definitely the action racing stuff that was completely ignored in the Street Racer line.

Although the red team will probably win that race. Anybody who brings an F1 car to a race called "Wreckage Road" doesn't have their yellow head pushed down all the way.

Looks very nice. Sad to see Agents go but this is a pretty good action theme. It makes the Speed Racer sets look like a bad joke. If I have money for much Lego purchasing this year though, unfortunately there's probably too much other cool stuff going on for me to buy. Plus I still want a couple more Agents 2.0 sets before they disappear into thin air.

I guess I'm not quite as keen on the white/lime combo (though that huge truck is awesome) but the "bad guys" look really mean and cool!

Hmmm... maybe wreckage road would be nice. I'm not so keen on racing cars in themselves but those parts (stickered too) would be great for spacecraft.

Here you go.

Thankyou, Prateek

Looks like a nice little set, but I was hoping the (no doubt) bad guy torsos would be more "biker" centric as opposed to the classical racer style of the blatant good guys.

I'd rather them have, for example, studdend leather jackets, not these flame and checker adorned ones. Oh well. It's also been so long since I've seen yellow hands in an "action theme", the figs just don't look right at first glance

its a nice little set, but $9.99 USD come on. Atleast I don't live in Canada were its 12.99. The helmets are awesome, especially that new mould on the black flame biker. the torso don't look very bikerish, yes I know its not a word!.

The new trophy piece is cool, I like it. The motorcycles... they're ok, I like the lime green one better. These sets are OK not my favorite theme the only sets I'll probally buy are the motorcycles, racecars, and speedboats.

P.S. This color scheme is meh.:sick:

Are you sure that the black biker has a new helmet? looks like the normal one we've had for years. Do you mean the fellow on the Lime green bike by any chance?

hmm... It might have been another world racers set, I think it might be?

EDIT: I maybe mistaken but I think theres a new helmet mold in the speedboat set.

Ah, right. I've looked at the speedboat sets, andI can't see any new helmets....I was really hoping for a black versionof the SP3 helmet. It just appears that we're getting aviator caps with goggles...unless you could provide a link with the pic you were looking at? it's highly likely you're seen something I've missed. I'm good at missing details

Well, I must say, that this theme goes completely against my character and interests in life. But! After having seen clear pictures I sure changed my attitude to them. I actually liked that chaos feeling with a bit of insanity in every set. The same feeling I had back in the Time Cruisers time. ) :cry_happy:

Not to mention, it's a great sourse for minifigures and interesting parts. )

Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) :classic:

This theme looks quite good, love the amount of detail on some of the sets and one can never have enough hovercrafts. That said my interests don't extend that far so likelihood is I'll only be getting the small bike set ofr the awesome figs and bikes.

None of these look like racecars but random vehicles.

That's what's cool about it, it's not just cars, it's specialized vehicles for racing in various environments.

That said, I'm probably most excited for this 2010 theme. I'm a big fan of action/combat racing. I grew up on Speed Racer and similar stuff, and this is that kind of theme exactly. Can't wait. :)

I agree with the specialised vehicle point. Personally, basic racecars are a bit tedious.

I think the factions have become fairly obvious at this point, but I don't think there's a proper story. Just the simple idea of teams building racing/combat vehicles.

I wonder if this line will continue after the first wave. There is potential for new parts and recolours, and it's a fairly good idea for a line in my opinion.

Reminds me, with the trophy piece, is the picture a sticker or is it printed on? It seems to be a sticker.

I actually am liking the looks of these. Much like the Lego racers 2001-2002 era. I loved the beleivable, not bland Matchbox cars like we get now.

I agree. Tiny Turbos killed proper Racers IMO. TLC focused more on TTs than Racers :cry_sad:

I'll see you both in court.

I'm not saying that TTs are bad, just that Lego focused too much on them instead of regular Racers.

I agree, but TT now are $6 matchbox cars that you can build, they are rather boring now, but still fine.

I like racers that have minifigures or at least half a minifigure.

I like the idea behind this theme. It reminds me of those action-based Racers of old. Only more interesting because it isn't limited to cars.

I hope they continue with this theme, I think it has a lot of potential and I'm loving the variety.

What else did you expect them to focus on? Tiny Turbos are essentially the modern-day equivalent of the four-by-eight go-karts that in the 90's were a fairly standard part of the Race theme (or, conversely, the limited-piece Xalax-era Racers sets with weird monster figs). You simply can't make a minifig-compatible car at that scale unless it's a compact, and compact cars don't have the same action-y appeal with preteen boys as genuine race cars, sports cars, or stunt cars.

Meanwhile, Tiny Turbos by far have the most building appeal of any of those impulse race sets I mentioned. And are a lot more believable as vehicles than these crazy vehicles (which is part of what makes these an "action theme" on this site and Racers an "other theme").

This isn't to say that I don't like the crazy vehicles-- they're really exciting sets, and I love the concept. But Tiny Turbos had its merits as well, being perhaps the best possible way of keeping decent race sets affordable.

I honestly never understood the tiny turbos. It's like the Star Wars minis- kinda cool, but not really worth collecting. I'd rather a larger model with more detail.
