Modulex Guy Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 This is my second building in continuation to my project of building a Japanese city. It is a Tea House! Like my other building, it is built as a module so it can connect on the bottom to the other building. The roof opens up and it features a fully functional sliding front door! I also built a few traditional styled outfits for the servers. Here are the pics: Close up of the door: Door open: The Garden: The waterfall: A look inside: Inside: Inside: Close up the server: Another outside shot: THe old man, thinking in the garden: Here is a pic of the two buildings together: If you have not seen the restaurant, here is the link to that: Japanese Sushi House Hope you enjoy this building too! Comments welcome. Quote
Etzel Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Very good job, Polish Guy! Those buildings are really great with lovely details. Just like in the Sushi house my favourite thing in your building is the roof Very well performed and it looks really realistic. I also like how you did the servers dresses and the sliding door. Fantastic work, can't wait to see more from your Japanese city. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 AWESOME, just AWESOME. What a beautiful and highly detailed MOC, good job 'Polish Guy'. Really love the small waterfall and pond, the sliding front door and oh to heck with it - the whole dam thing - it's totally cool ! Its one of the best Asian style buildings I have seen in a very long time and just beats your Sushi House by one cup of tea. Maybe you do a temple next, I think you would do a sweet job of it ! Great work and keep it going, 'Polish Guy'. Quote
Rick Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 The exterior is very recognizable. I especially like the minifigs and the little garden, with all the foliage and the waterfall. Quote
wooootles Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Nice, you've got a Little Tokyo going on. I love the way you did the small waterfalls. We get a bath house going next? Quote
Zorbas Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Amazing work for once more Japanese Guy Polish Guy! Far East is your field as far as I can see! I really like the roof. The colour is great and the fact that it's not tiled gives extra points in that MOC. The door is also great and I like the colours you 've used. The red stripes on the walls also add on that asian feeling. The interior is also great. I like the small pond and the waterfall and also the use of flowers. Pink and white really reminds me of a typical japanese image, the cherry blossom. Great use! Btw, is that a large bonsai tree there at the corner? The shape looks like one. Great choice of Mr. Miyagi and excellent use of the Islanders hair piece. Thanks for sharing your wonderful creation with us! Modo arigato! Quote

Even though I'm Polish I do like Anime and Manga a lot and thats where I got most of my Inspiration. The tree in the garden is a cross between a regular tree and a Cherry Blossom, I just needed something taller that a flower to fill the corner. Edited December 19, 2009 by Polish Guy Quote
metalgearsolid Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) Very nice! I like how you thought of little details like the black strips to mimic real-life tatami mats. Suggestion though to include some floor cushions for the teahouse guests to sit on (included pic for example of floor mats). Looking forward to more of your Japanese city. Are you modelling it on Kyoto? Edited December 19, 2009 by metalgearsolid Quote
BlueBard Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Wonderful MOC, really! You really capture the feeling of peace in the interior with that small and pretty garden, looking at those 1x1 transparent round plates you can even hear the rumour of water Quote
prateek Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Another great Japanese building! I love the sloped roof, and the bamboo door is genious Quote
curtisrlee Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Well done! I really like the fountain and the sliding door! Quote
Modulex Guy Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Thanks all, that you enjoy my building! My next building might take more time until I post it, my build table and room have gotten to the point where everything is a disaster, I need to re-sort and re-organize first. Quote
Swash Buckler Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Great stuff- it is always good to see how someone can really use one's legos just to create something so awesome as this Quote
Legostein Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Hello! That not only a great building with nice interior, it also features life and motion. What impressed me also very much are the creative decorated hats you built with the islander headgear and the cherries. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote

If you want, you could maybe put some red or pink 1x1 round studs on the tree to make it a cherry blossom tree. Quote
Izzy Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 This is such a wonderful creation, absolutely gorgeous. I love all the little details you have added. Love, love love the Geisha's legs. I am eagerly awaiting the bathhouse. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 Love, love love the Geisha's legs. I do to, but OW! It looks like they've got bound feet. I thought that was only in China. Beautiful MOC you've created. The setting of a modern sidewalk but still relaxed interior is a wonderful contrast. I also like how you use just classic and plain minifigures; just normal people going about their normal business, or taking a break over a soothing cup of tea. Excellent work! Quote

Excellent work! u're right about the China part. but i think Polish Guy is trying to show his minifigs wearing japanese clogs or sandals. by the way, i do not understand why the street level is 1 brick high. that would have used up some amount of bricks to raise the level. nonetheless, i like the MOC and the Jap house next to it. Captain Blackmoor Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 It looks quite nice, great idea as well. Though I prefer tiling the roof, it still is an awesome build. The garden has a romantic feel over it, very peaceful. And the whole MOC perfectly fits in the street! Nice job! Quote
Milan Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 The roof is definitely my favorite part of the house! Other details like door and colors are very nice as well! Quote
Modulex Guy Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 If you want, you could maybe put some red or pink 1x1 round studs on the tree to make it a cherry blossom tree. I do not have any 1x1 rounds, but I have tons of the pink flower pieces, I will do that if I build any larger trees. I do to, but OW! It looks like they've got bound feet. I thought that was only in China.Beautiful MOC you've created. The setting of a modern sidewalk but still relaxed interior is a wonderful contrast. I also like how you use just classic and plain minifigures; just normal people going about their normal business, or taking a break over a soothing cup of tea. Excellent work! I did not go for a bound foot look, a normal LEGO minifigure's footprint is a 1x1 so I did not want to stray farther than that, It's also tough to get detail on such a small scale. I use traditional minifugures because those are all I have, I have a good 500 or so regular town figs. I don't use any flesh colored figs, I like it traditional. u're right about the China part. but i think Polish Guy is trying to show his minifigs wearing japanese clogs or sandals.by the way, i do not understand why the street level is 1 brick high. that would have used up some amount of bricks to raise the level. nonetheless, i like the MOC and the Jap house next to it. Like I said before, detail on such a small scale is hard to do, yes I tried to do a sandal look and I think it somewhat worked. I have the buildings built on a 1 brick high base because I want all the buildings to connect at the base by Technic pins and for stability. It also adds tons of rigidity to the overall structure so I can transport it to the NILTC shows, mostly if I had a building on a single base it would get flimsy in a box and break apart during transport. It also does not use very many bricks to go 1 brick higher, the inside is mostly hollow, just enough brick on the inside to support the layer of plates the building is on. It also allows me for the future to be able to build SNOT roads. Hope that explains a lot of things. Quote

Sounds like a good idea. Beautiful work! Edited December 21, 2009 by Jameson42 Quote
